The President of TAMPAN (Theatre Arts and Movies Production Association of Nigeria), Bolaji Amusan also known as Mr Latin reveals why the group does not make provisions to help sick and struggling actors in the movie industry. Despite having spent over N10 million on health-related matters affecting actors, Mr Latin has claimed that TAMPAN is always willing to assist. During a recent interview on 32FM in Ibadan, he clarified that the association cannot support certain sick and struggling members because they are not members or are inactive. Mr. Latin clarified that these actors, who are ill, frequently avoid seeking help from TAMPAN out of embarrassment and instead turn to the internet, radio, or television for assistance since they realize they were not active members. As a result, the group is unable to offer them help. “We always come to the aid of all active members. Since I became the TAMPAN President, we have spent more than N10 million on the actors’ health challenges. “The ones you see going on radio or TV to beg for money are not active members of the association,” he said.

This got social media buzzing as many people didn’t find it welcoming. Social media users tagged TAMPAN and reported the actor’s Instagram page.
As a result of this, the Theatre Arts and Motion Pictures Practitioners of Nigeria (TAMPAN), has summoned the veteran actor to face a disciplinary panel to explain reasons for his actions.
This was confirmed by one of TAMPAN’ executives, Actress Rose Odika, who made this known to Sunday Scoop.
Rose stated that even though the actor has the right to support whoever he wants to, but his actions has no moral justification. He has thus been summoned before the disciplinary committee even though he is yet to show up before the committee.
In Rose Odika‘s words:
“He has the right to support whoever he wants to, but we have the moral justification angle. We are looking at the morality behind that advert (video). It is not about who he is supporting. It is about him breaching the code of ethics (of our association and industry.”
While reacting to the summon, Olaiya told correspondents of Sunday Scoop that he is not aware of such summon.
His words: “I don’t know who discussed that with you. I did not hear anything about that. God bless you.”
