According to him, the landlord asked that he leaves the key to his apartment behind for some plumbing work to be done in the building. The tenant said he was shocked to return to see that two pipes from the toilets of two other apartments were passed through his apartment. The pipes were not even hidden inside the building, but were constructed in such a way that anyone could see it. The distraught man said he needs justice as the shoddy job done in his apartment will cause him so much trauma if he continues to reside in the house.

An Ondo State Magistrates’ Court remanded Emmanuel Adebayo, a 56-year-old pastor in a correctional centre over the alleged murder of Toyin Olatunji, his 50-year-old tenant.

The incident occurred on April 4, 2023, at No.14 Moferere Street Owe-Akala, Akure, during a quarrel between the defendant and the female tenant. The pastor allegedly pushed the victim, causing her to become unconscious, which eventually led to her death. The prosecutor, Abdulateef Suliaman, applied to the court to remand the defendant in correctional custody, pending advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions(DPP). The defence counsel requested an adjournment to enable his client to file a counter affidavit to the prosecutor’s application. Magistrate Tope Aladejana granted the prosecutor’s application and ordered the remand of the defendant in Olokuta Correctional Centre. The case was adjourned until April 27 for a ruling. The defendant is said to be a pastor in a Christ Apostolic Church. The offence is said to contravene Sections 316 and 310 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ondo, 2006.

In the video making the rounds online, the landlord who was shirtless could be heard raining insults on the young man and then proceeding to hold him by his shirt. A fight had followed as the young man tried to free himself from the man’s strong hold on his shirt. A landlord, identified as Ovbiebo Victor, has been apprehended by the security officials in Edo State for reportedly shooting his tenant’s leg for using a generator in his house.

According to reports from Instablog, the sad incident had happened on Sunday evening, April 3, 2022, at their home in Isihor area of Benin City, Edo State’s capital.

A source stated that:
“The issue started when the landlord warned the tenant not to put on generator in the compound again. But on the said day this ugly incident occured, the generator was not on, the landlord came out with a guuunn and shot the generator then waited for his tenant to come back and shot him in the leg too.
The injured tenant is currently at UBTH, while the landlord is at Uqbowo police station.”
