Chelsea defensive guru Thiago Silva has hinted that his retirement from professional football is no longer farfetched. In an interview with Sky Italia, the Brazilian defender said, “The end of my career is getting closer… it’s not easy.” Silva also talked about his future plans, saying, “You’ve to think about when you want to retire, where do you go as final club, the family, my kids play at Chelsea…” Meanwhile, the player’s current contract with Chelsea will expire at the end of the 2023-2024 season.

The Brazilian has been a key player for Chelsea since his arrival and has helped the club win the Champions League in his first season. Talking about Chelsea’s performances this season, Fabrizio Romano quoted Silva saying, “We have new manager — we need time to improve. Under Poch we train stronger, we run more.”

Source: Getty Indeed, whilst there are conflicting reports on whether or not Thiago even wants to leave Liverpool, Galatasaray could be an ideal destination for the midfielder, especially with the Turkish giants qualifying for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Galatasaray being back in Europe’s elite competition will be a big selling point for the Istanbul-based side in their bid to add to the squad this summer. Liverpool paid £20m to sign Thiago from Bayern Munich in 2020 and he has gone on to make 93 appearances for the club, winning the FA Cup and the League Cup during his time in England. 
The 38-year-old defender who has become a key player in the team since arriving at Stamford Bridge in 2020, has shown himself to be evergreen and has arguably been the Blues’ most consistent performer throughout the tenures of both Thomas Tuchel and Graham Potter. Speaking to Chelsea’s website after signing the new contract, Silva said; 
“I am honestly so happy to continue my career with the Blues. “When I signed my first contract here, it was to just do one year. Now it is already the fourth! I could not have imagined that, but really it is a very special moment for me to sign and stay at Chelsea.”
