INEC extends PVC collection by one week

The independent national electoral commission, INEC has moved to extend the collection of Permanent Voters Card, PVC by one week.

It will be recalled that the commission initially slated the closing date for PvC collection to be on the 29th of January, 2023. In a recent statement issued by the commission, it was made known that the extension till February 5 was considered in a bid to allow the majority take part in the voting exercise.

INEC said I’m a statement: “The Commission met today, Saturday, 29th January 2023 a day after its meeting with the Resident Electoral Commissioners from the 36 States of the Federation and the Federal capital Territory, Abuja and deliberated on a number of issues, including the reports from RECs on the ongoing collection of Permanent Voters Cards in its 774 Local Government Offices nationwide. “It will be recalled that at the meeting with RECs on Friday, 28th January 2023, the Chairman of the Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu indicated that the Commission will not hesitate to consider additional measures to ensure that all citizens have ample opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the General Election. “Having reviewed reports from all the States of the Federation, the Commission is encouraged by the progress made so far as more Nigerians troop out daily to collect their PVCs.“Arising from reports from the various States and discussions with Resident Electoral Commissioners, the Commission has decided to further extend PVC collection in all its Local Government Offices nationwide by an additional one week. The ongoing collection of PVCs nationwide will therefore continue and end on 5th February 2023. This is the second time the Commission is extending PVC collection nationwide and this will be the last extension of the exercise. Collection period has further been extended by an additional two hours and will start at 9am and end at 5pm daily including Saturdays and Sundays. Those that engaged in double and multiple registration should not bother visiting any of the Commission’s Offices as the Commission did not print their PVCs. The Commission will continue to act on all reported cases of sharp practices during the ongoing PVC collection and will ensure that no Nigerian is disadvantaged and all those that carried out valid registration have an opportunity of collecting their PVCs. The Commission once again salutes the patience and doggedness of citizens.”

Kanu Nwankwo denies endorsing Bola Tinubu

Nigerian football legend, Kanu Nwankwo has denied endorsing the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu.

The claim was made earlier by The Nation journalist, Sam Omatseye. Sharing a video of Kanu Nwankwo speaking during a meeting with Tinubu, Omatseye tweeted; “In year 2000, i wanted to start Kanu Heart Foundation.* *Peter Obi and all the Igbo Leaders refused to Help me. Rachel, the wife of veteran musician Chukwudi Ken Agali popularly known as Chuddy K, dies after battle with cancer.

The ‘Slow Slow’ hit maker took to his Instagram page to break the heart rending news with his followers. Sharing a photo of his deceased wife, Chuddy K expressed that he’s still in disbelief over her passing.

He added that she had fought a good fight against the disease, and had been called home by God because he loves her. Chuddy K wrote: “My queen is gone. I can’t believe am typing this. Never imagined a day like this would come so early. You fought hard for your life. You did not die of cancer. God called you cus he loves you more than I do. RIP Rachael my love”.

Sandra condemns Marvin for refusing to kiss Jaypee

The Friday night Truth or Dare game lingers on the mind of Sandra and Yvonne who condemned Marvin for refusing a kiss from Jaypee.

It would be recalled that the Truth or Dare game witnessed a series of kissing. One of the highlights was Khosi kissing two housemates in front of Yemi. Marvin, unlike others, rejected a kiss from one of his colleagues even though it caught many by surprise.

A video making rounds on social media captured the moment a pastor showered prays on suspected internet fraudsters a.k.a yahoo boys. The pastor before his prayer recalled how one of the boys called him about his struggles and later credited him N2M, and another N1M as a gift. While he gathered the rest of the yahoo boys at the crusade to the front of the altar, his prayer went thus, “your BTC account will increase; your domiciliary account with increase; I decree, every week confirmation; every month confirmation.” The video has, however, stirred mixed reactions on social media as many referred to the preacher as a fake man of God. “Imagine building your wealth on the pains of others.
