Both teams started the encounter with frantic pace with Liverpool having the edge in terms of possession but not creating many openings.
Manchester United had the first attempt on goal in the sixth minute but Zlatan Ibrahimovic blazed his 35-yard free-kick over the bar.

Paul Pogba also had a crack at goal from distance but his effort sailed wide in the 14th minute.
Emre Can also fired Liverpool’s first shot but like the United duo of Ibrahimovic and Pogba his effort was wide.

In the 25th minute Marcus Rashford got past James Milner for the first time on the right flank but his cross targeted at Ibrahimovic was parried away to safety by Karius in the Liverpool goal.
Four minutes later Roberto Firmino met Jordan Henderson’s cross at the back post but his header was directed straight at David De Gea in goal for Manchester United as the first half ended with few chances created from both sides.

In the second half, Manchester United created the first chance at goal after Pogba curled in a fine cross but his long range pass was headed back across goal by Ibrahimovic in the 54th minute.
Five minutes later Emre Can forced a brilliant save from De Gea who dived down low to his right to deny the German midfielder.

In the 71st minute, De Gea pulled another great save this time tipping Philipe Coutinho’s stunning strike.
The draw sees Liverpool move up to fourth spot while Manchester United occupy the seventh position.
