This comes following a podcast involving an influencer, Caramel and colleagues who belittled men who cannot provide money for their lifestyles. A woman in a viral clip argued that ladies with an obsessive thirst for money have nothing to offer in a relationship other than being an ‘ashawo‘ – prostitute. She insisted that in this age and time, a woman who hopes to depend on a man 100% for her finances is nothing but an ashawo and should find her way to Italy where she can be paid for such services. Iyabo Ojo lambasts troll who called her ‘ashawo’ for supporting Peter Obi

Veteran Nollywood actress, Iyabo Ojo, ridicules a troll who called her an ‘ashawo‘ – prostitute – for expressing support for Peter Obi.

The mother of two had declared her support for the Labour Party’s presidential candidate while insisting on standing by him regardless of the outcome of the February 2023 election. In her words, “I Alice Iyabo Ojo strongly believe in Peter Obi & I stand Obedient in my choice whether he wins or not because my vision & dreams for my country aligns with the Obedient agenda..”

Nollywood actress Uche Ogbodo has issued a stern warning to whom it concerns asking people to stop tagging all actresses as “ashawo”.

There have been several rumors tarnishing the image of Nollywood actresses due to the lifestyle some of them live. People have the perception that most Nollywood actresses live extravagant lifestyles because they sleep with men for money. Taking to her Instagram story, Uche stated that not all female celebrities are prostitutes. She hammered on the fact that most female actresses believe in hard work and also don’t mind dating a guy for 5-10 years whether he is wealthy or not. “Bullets flying up and down since! Haaaa! Reality star Mercy Eke has shared her first reactions when she discovered she was going to play a role as a prostitute in ‘Shanty Town’.

Mercy Eke was one of the celebrities cast for the popular Netflix series Shanty Town. She has shared how she felt when she was given the role as a prostitute. Describing her character as Jackie in the movie, Mercy Eke said; “Jackie is a promising sex worker [laughs] There is no way you will put it. Jackie is a sex worker that got herself mixed up with Scar and got herself entangled with things that are not her business.” Speaking about her role and how she felt when she was given the movie role to play, Mercy said; “I just said to myself you just have to be Jackie and play Jackie. It was a sweet character it’s something everybody can relate to in our society today. Everybody can totally relate to Jackie. So when I read the script, I was like it is what I can do. Yeah, let me just go and show my acting skills with Jackie.”

Nollywood actress, Nancy Isime has taken to her Instagram stories to officially react to claims of dating a married man.

Controversial IG blogger, Gistlovers had accused the show host of having amorous ties with Micheal Dion-Goli who in turn sponsored her trip to Istanbul, Turkey.
Other actresses such as Nuella Njubigbo, Onyi Alex and reality star, Nengi Hampson Rebecca were also called out alongside Nancy as Gistlovers claimed that the pressure they mounted on Michael’s wife, caused her to exit her matrimonial home.
Reacting to all these, Nancy Isime decried the erroneous belief that every successful woman is being sponsored or backed by a man, especially one she has an amorous relationship with.
According to Nancy, she looks forward to days when the bias suffered by women shall be broken.
