A Nigerian university graduate set all his certificates on fire after he failed to secure a job, 13 years after he graduated from school. The Ajayi Crowther University graduate got upset and fed up with his situation and decided to set all his certificate on fire after he failed to secure any employment with them.

Nigerian graduate sets his certificates on fire. He showed each of the certificates he was issued from primary to the university level and stated that they had all been useless to him. The man known as lutimain Alvin Lanre lamented that he graduated from Ajayi Crowther University and did his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in 2013, but since then he has been dragging jobs with people who didn’t go to school like him. He decided to set all the certificates on fire since they are all useless to him. A young Kenyan man, whose identity remains unknown, causes a stir as he burns his important certificates and educational documents over his inability to find a job. He recorded himself submerging his academic qualifications into a metal cooking pot, which was engulfed in flames.

He meticulously arranged and burned his credentials from primary school to university, including the graduation booklet that featured his name. Netizens expressed sympathy towards his actions and advised him to remain patient even in challenging circumstances.  Considering that the university he finished from held its 21st graduation ceremony just last year, many Kenyans argued that it was premature for him to give up on life. The Texas Board of Nursing presses charges against 23 practising nurses in the United States, Nigerians inclusive for alleged possession of fake certificates.

The Board released a statement on its website that includes the names of the accused individuals. Of the 23 accused nurses, 18 are believed to be of Nigerian descent. According to the Board, an ongoing investigation revealed that all the suspects were involved in a grand fraudulent scheme related to the procurement of false nursing degree diplomas and transcripts. This scheme, which was been named “Operation Nightingale,” involves a multi-state coordinated law enforcement action, with the participation of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS-OIG). The operation began on January 25, 2023, with the aim of arresting those engaged in the sale of fake and fraudulent nursing credentials. The individuals from Nigeria who are implicated in the scheme are Abiodun, Yetunde Felicia; Adelakun, Abiodun Aveez; Adelekan, Joseph Adewale; Adeoye, Vivien Temitope; Adewale, Modinat Abidemi; Afolabi, Olufemi Toun; Afolabi, Omowunmi F; Agbo, Odumegwu Steve; and Ajibade, Charlot Omotayo. Others include Akande, Olabisi Christiana; Akhigbe, Catherine; Akinrolabu, Folasade Margaret; Ako, Esiri Rachael; Akpan, Rosemary Moses; Alimi, Bukola A; Ani, Ndirika Justina; Aroh, Nchekwube C.; and Ayodeji, Sherifat Olubunmi. The Texas Board of Nursing clarified that these individuals procured fake nursing credentials and used them to sit for the national nursing board exam. The statement read: “The Board has filed Formal Charges against the following nurses for fraudulently obtaining educational credentials. The Board is authorized to file Formal Charges against a nurse if probable cause exists that the nurse has committed an act listed in Tex. Occ. Code §301.452(b) or that violates other law. See Tex. Occ. Code §301.458. Further, Formal Charges are publicly available. See Tex. Occ. Code §301.466(b). Please note that Formal Charges are not a final disciplinary action, and a nurse is permitted to work, as a nurse, while Formal Charges are pending. This list will be updated continuously as the Board receives additional information about the fraudulent diploma/transcript scheme.” Other nurses named in the scandal are Abanda, Jacob Atambili; Addai, Agnes Fosuah; Anaaba, Awingrug Musah; Anthony-Annor, and Spendilove; Asanga, Albert Nshanui.

Kabiru Masari, running mate to the All Progressives Congress’ (APC) presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has told the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that his original certificates are missing.
Masari’s revelation comes in the middle of the controversy surrounding Tinubu’s primary and secondary schools certificates.

Reports have it that Masari in particulars submitted to INEC deposed to an affidavit on the loss of his primary and secondary schools certificates.
He however said that he attended Masari Primary school, Katsina State between 1972-78 and obtained a Grade 2 Certificate from Katsina Teachers College in 1982 and a Higher Certificate in 1995.
Masari in the sworn affidavit for ‘Loss of Some Original Documents’ obtained from Divisional Police Headquarter, Wuse Zone 3, Abuja attached to the particulars he submitted to INEC said that in January 2021, while on transit within Wuse, Area FCT, Abuja, he lost his Certificate of Grade 2 Certificate from Katsina Teachers College and First Leaving Primary School Certificate issued by Masari Primary School, Katsina State, (1972-78).
He also said that all efforts made to trace the items proved abortive.
Masari’s sworn affidavit read in part: “Ibrahim Kabiru Masari, male, Muslim, Nigerian citizen of Abubakar Rimi Crescent, National Assembly Quarters, Apo, FCT– Abuja, declare an oath and state as follows:
“That I am the above-named persons and bonafide owner of the under-listed documents. That sometimes in January 2021, while on transit within Wuse Area, FCT– Abuja, I discovered that my original Certificate of Occupancy of plot NoKT 17522, GRA Katsina Estate; Certificate of Kaduna State Development Centre from 1994-95; Grade 11 Certificate from Katsina Teachers College from 1979-83 and First Leaving School Certificate issued by Masari Primary School Katsina State from 1972-78 got lost.
“That all efforts made to trace the documents proved abortive hence this affidavit. That this affidavit is required for record purpose and for all authorities and persons concerned to take note.”

On Friday, the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stirred the reactions of Nigerians after he reportedly told the Independent National Electoral commission, INEC, that he didn’t attend primary and secondary schools, and that every other certificates he acquired were stolen by unknown soldiers.
In an affidavit which was submitted to INEC and cited by Peoples Gazette, Tinubu, however, claimed that although he didn’t attend primary and secondary schools, he had two degrees from two American universities which were later stolen.

The submitted affidavit to INEC according to Peoples Gazette is said to be part of his (Tinubu’s) eligibility filings for the 2023 presidential elections.
Further reports observed that the documents’ columns for Tinubu’s primary and secondary education were left unmarked.
Speaking on his stolen certificate. Tinubu was quoted by the report as saying: “I went on self-exile from October 1994 to October 1998. When I returned I discovered that all my property, including qualifications and my certificates respect of paragraph three above, were looted by unknown persons.
“My house was a target of series of searches by various security agent the time the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria was forced to adjourn following the military takeover of government of 17th November 1993.
“I was the chairman of the Senate committee on appropriation, banking and finance. I was also a plaintiff in one of the two suits against the interim national government in 1993.
“I went on exile when it became clear to me that my life was in danger.”
