Court dismisses claim Chidinma was forced to confess to murder of Ataga
The High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos has dismissed claims by Chidinma Ojukwu that she was coerced and intimidated into confessing to the alleged murder of Super TV CEO, Usifo Ataga. Justice Yetunde Adesanya, who presided over the trial within a trial, stated that the prosecution had provided evidence that proved the voluntariness of the defendant’s statements. Ms Ojukwu, along with Adedapo Quadri and her sister Chioma Egbuchu, is standing trial for the murder of Ataga. The defendant had objected to the admissibility of her statements, claiming that they were not voluntarily made and that she was slapped and forced to sign them. However, Justice Adesanya ruled that the videos tendered in court did not display any intimidation towards the defendant while she was writing her statements, and the voice of the investigating police officer (IPO) was clear and audible and did not show any form of intimidation. “The videos tendered in court did not display any intimidation towards the defendant while she was writing her statements,” Judge said. “The voice of the investigating police officer (IPO) was clear and audible. It did not show any form of intimidation.” The court, therefore, admits the two statements in evidence and marks them as exhibits. The case has been adjourned until May 30 for the continuation of the trial.

Lagos Govt debunks claim of train victims left unattended, calls rumour peddlers wicked
Lagos State government debunks reports about the victims of Thursday’s train accident left unattended at the hospital.
The Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) received a number of accident victims following a train and BRT crash in the Ikeja area of the state which left six people dead. In a statement, the state government condemned reports that suggested that the victims were left unattended in LASUTH. It released images of victims who have been treated and stabilized while stating that they’ve undergone a series of checkups.
It, however, termed false news peddlers as wicked and mischievous for ridiculing the effort of the Lagos State government and the hospital. “The falsehood peddled on social media that victims of the train accident at Ikeja were left unattended to is wicked and mischievous. Pure ignorance. Victims were speedily evacuated to LASUTH. They were attended to outside the emergency Centre to classify their injuries. Normal medical procedure in an emergency.
Survivors have since undergone various stages of treatment and admitted into wards. LASUTH has displayed excellence and commitment to ensure all patients are stable and discharged promptly. It is inhuman for anyone to go on social media to peddle rumours when families grieve over the loss of their loved ones.”

Speaking ahead of their Europa League clash with Real Betis tomorrow, March 9, Rashford admitted that their communication during the match was bad. He said; “We didn’t give up, that’s nonsense. We were unorganised, yes, communication was bad, yes, that’s why we conceded the goals. But it comes down to the fact that I believe everyone was trying to get back into the game that much, we came away from the team’s principles in and out of possession. “I felt like the forwards were just trying to press as a unit but we weren’t connected with the midfield. And then the same with the midfield and the defence. We were trying to get a grip of the game at 2-0 and 3-0, we were talking but I don’t think we were really in agreement of what to do.”
