PSG have confirmed the signing of 27-year-old defender Lucas Hernandez from Bayern Munich for a reported fee of £34m. The 27-year-old French footballer, whose brother, Theo, plays for AC Milan, joined the French champions on a five-year deal.

I’ve been waiting to join PSG for a long time, and it’s finally happened. It’s a very special day for me and I’m very happy to be here.” Hernandez was born in France but raised in Spain, playing his youth career at Rayo Majadahonda and Atletico Madrid before progressing into the latter’s senior team. In 2019, he joined Bayern Munich, and has enjoyed four years of success with the German giants, winning the Bundesliga title every season, as well as the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2020. However, injury limited his involvement for Bayern Munich last season. The defender was restricted to 11 appearances because of a knee ligament injury suffered while on duty for France at the World Cup.

Source: Getty On Hernandez joining PSG, Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said; “We would like to thank Lucas Hernández for four very successful years together. He always gave everything, we were always impressed by his fighting spirit and his passion. FC Bayern wishes him all the best for the future.” Following another season marked by yet another failure to win the Champions League, PSG has been active in the transfer market. In addition to hiring Luis Enrique as its new coach, the French champions have also signed Marco Asensio, Milan Skriniar, Manuel Ugarte, and Lee Kang-In. PSG have also seen Argentina World Cup winner Lionel Messi exit the club following the end of his contract, while Junio Dina Ebimbe joined German side Eintracht Frankfurt. Spanish defender Sergio Ramos has also left Parc des Princes following the expiration of his PSG deal, and Argentine striker Mauro Icardi is in talks with Galatasaray following a successful loan with the Turkish club last season.

Source: Reuters However, the Blues soon pulled out of the race for the South American, who quickly earmarked the Parc des Princes as his preferred destination for a summer move. Ugarte is the third player to be recruited by PSG this summer after Skriniar and Asensio signed on free transfers. France’s 2018 World Cup-winning defender Lucas Hernandez is also expected to arrive as new coach Luis Enrique looks to strengthen his team for next season. However, there remain ongoing questions about the future of Kylian Mbappe, who said last month that he would not extend his contract, which expires next year. If there is no change to his stance the club must sell the player in the current transfer window, otherwise, they will likely lose him for nothing when his deal ends.

The departure of Gvardiol, who started 24 league games as his side came third behind champions Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund, would be another hefty blow to the spine of last season’s team. Confirming that Josko Gvardiol has requested to join Manchester City, RB Leipzig Sporting Director Max Eberl told German outlet LVZ; “I can confirm that Joško Gvardiol and agents told us about their desire to move to Manchester City. We are in talks with Manchester. That’s all there is to say at the moment. “Yes, for €100m plus bonuses, Gvardiol will end up in Pep’s strong hands. The value of the deal would make Gvardiol the most expensive defender in history. But it might take a few more days.”

Guardiola has long been an admirer of the young centre-back, particularly his ability on the ball and in duels. The City boss plans to use a four-centre-back system again next season so would rather sign Gvardiol than a full-back. His transfer fee might eclipse the £80m forked out by local rivals Manchester United to Leicester for Harry Maguire back in 2019. Gvardiol had previously been wanted by Chelsea last year but no agreement was ever reached before he signed a new contract with Leipzig. His arrival would add to Guardiola’s strength in central defence. Consistent roles were found for Ruben Dias, Nathan Ake, Manuel Akanji, and John Stones throughout the successful 2022/23 campaign, while Aymeric Laporte often warmed the bench or featured in lower stakes outings.

Source: Getty Onana has reportedly been identified by Man United head coach Erik ten Hag as his leading goalkeeping target this summer, with the Cameroonian previously playing under the Dutchman at Ajax. Inter Milan CEO who spoke at the Gran Gala in Italy last night, said while Manchester United have expressed an interest in Andre Onana, he is yet to receive an offer. Marotta said; “Manchester United expressed a particular interest, but that needs to blossom into making a proposal over the next few days. Once that happens, both Inter and the player will make a careful evaluation.” United will soon have to make a decision on a bid for Onana but also have the matter of De Gea’s future to resolve.

Source: Getty De Gea had agreed to a contract extension which would have seen his wages drop almost half, down to £200,000 a week, but United later withdrew that offer and have attempted to convince the goalkeeper to accept an even-greater pay cut. That latest proposal remains unsigned and De Gea is now set to become a free agent, with his United contract expiring on Friday evening. Even if De Gea can be convinced to stay at Old Trafford, United could still pursue a move for Onana, with manager Erik ten Hag keep to find high-level competition in goal. 27-year-old Onana moved to San Siro from Ajax last July, and he impressed football lovers at Inter during the 2022-23 campaign, helping them to reach the Champions League final, in addition to lifting the Italian Super Cup and Coppa Italia title. Onana featured on 41 occasions for his Italian side during the recent season, keeping 19 clean sheets in the process.

Source: Getty Jackson is now Mauricio Pochettino’s second summer signing since he took charge in May following the £52m arrival of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. Announcing their new signing, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Laurence Stewart and Paul Winstanley said; “We are excited to welcome Nicolas to Chelsea. He is a young player with big potential, as he showcased for Villarreal last season. “We believe he is ready for this next step in his career and look forward to him working with our new head coach, Mauricio Pochettino, and his Chelsea teammates.” Jackson moved to Villarreral from Senegal in 2019 and, like Nkunku, can play as a central striker or on the wings. He played for Villarreal B before representing the first team from 2021 and has since scored 13 goals in 47 games, registering six assists.

Source: Getty He almost signed for Bournemouth in January for about £25 million, but that deal collapsed after he suffered a hamstring injury which ruled him out for most of the last campaign. Jackson’s late season form, in what was a breakthrough campaign, earned him La Liga Player of the Month in May, helping Villarreal finish fifth and qualify for the Europa League. He also featured for Senegal at the Qatar World Cup, making his international debut in a group-stage game against the Netherlands. The Senegalese star is expected to compete for a role in Pochettino’s frontline next season along with Nkunku, Armando Broja, and David Datro Fofana. With Nicolas Jackson confirmed, Chelsea now needs to clear more deadwood in their attack. Romelu Lukaku, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, and Christian Pulisic are still on the club’s books, and they will all need to be sold in the coming weeks.

Source: Manchester City The treble winners said the 29-year-old had signed a four-year contract after the clubs reportedly agreed an initial fee of £25 million ($32 million), with a potential £5 million in add-ons. Kovacic joins Pep Guardiola’s side after five years at Chelsea, where he won the Champions League and Europa League and made 221 appearances. Kovacic isn’t seen as a direct replacement for the outgoing Ilkay Gundogan, but there are some similarities. That includes the ability to play in multiple positions in the middle, with City Director of Football Txiki Begiristain citing two different roles he can play. Add in the experience the Croatian midfielder has for club and country, and City are delighted with the ‘great signing’ they have made. Speaking to the club’s website, Kovacic who will wear the number 8 shirt said;

He will not join the club until 2025 when he turns 18.
