In a daring act of self-defense, a woman bravely ignited a fire on her fence to repel a group of illegal landgrabbers who attempted to forcefully take over her family house in Lagos State. The incident unfolded on Wednesday, May 24, at a residence situated on Sere Close Off Adeola Adeleye Street in Ilupeju, Lagos.

According to a family source, the group claimed that part of the property had been “given” to them and purportedly emerged from a nearby mosque on Adeola Adeleye Street. However, the family members residing in the house steadfastly refused to grant them entry, urging the landgrabbers to resolve the matter through legal channels. Undeterred, the aggressors persisted with their illegal actions, ignoring the pleas of the residents.

She procured petrol and set fire to the fence, creating a barrier between the landgrabbers and their unlawful intentions. The flames served as a potent deterrent, forcing the intruders to retreat for their own safety. Upon learning of the incident, the authorities were promptly notified, and the police arrived at the scene. They successfully extinguished the fire, but no arrests have been made thus far.. The landgrabbers, though temporarily thwarted, have not returned to the property since the encounter. “No arrest was made, and they haven’t been back as of yet, but they’re threatening to return to complete their mission,” the source said.
