Nigerian actor, Daniel Etim-Effiong, reveals the reason more male actors come online to seek financial aid compared to the women in the industry. He explains this in an episode of the Bad and Boujee podcast with hosts, TolaniBaj and Moet Abebe. The actor was asked why more male actors are coming out to request crowdfunding for sickness amongst other pressing issues. The actor believes this is owing to the patriarchal society in Nigeria which leaves women as men’s responsibility and as such men cannot stand by and do nothing when a woman is facing a challenge. Using himself as an example, he explained that if he finished a job and got paid, his first thought is to take care of his family and sustain the home and settle outstanding bills. However for some women, once they get paid, the money is for themselves alone to enjoy and spend, which helps them in saving more. He also narrates how women are beautiful creatures which leaves them open to receiving gifts and other financial rewards from men who find their beauty alluring. Men on the other hand are left to provide for themselves all the times so when they reach a breaking point, they reach out to the public for help instead. The father of the late singer Mohbad, Mr Joseph Aloba appeals to the public for assistance in funding a DNA test to determine the true paternity of his grandson, Liam. Mr Aloba made the plea in an interview with Oriyomi Hamzat, a popular broadcaster based in Ibadan while urging Nigerians not to abandon him in his quest for justice for his son.

When asked, Mohbad’s father stated; “I want Nigerians that are fighting for justice for Mohbad not to get tired, they should please support me because I can’t do it alone. “They should help me find out what killed my son. And I also want the DNA of his son to be done because I don’t want to accept a bastard child. “I need help. You know as a father, I have to arrange money for the DNA, and I want the DNA carried out in two separate places. I have spoken to my lawyer,” he added. Watch the video below …

Tinubu meets Bill Gates, Dangote in Presidential Villa, set to attend Summit for Financial pact in Paris

President Bola Tinubu on Monday met with the co-founder of Microsoft, Bill Gates, and the chairman of the Dangote Group, Aliko Dangote at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. Tinubu is also expected to leave Nigeria on Tuesday, to join world leaders in Paris, France on Thursday, to review and sign a New Global Financial Pact that places vulnerable countries on a priority list for support and investment, following the devastating impact of climate change, energy crisis, and after effect of the COVID-19 pandemic.

President Bola Tinubu Tinubu’s meeting with Bill Gate and Dangote was disclosed by his media aide, Dayo Olusegun, via his Twitter handle. According to Olusegun: “Mr @BillGates, co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and founder of Microsoft has arrived the Presidential Villa with Alhaji @AlikoDangote to see President Bola Ahmed Tinubu (GCFR).” The Special Adviser to the President on Special Duties, Communication and Strategy, Dele Alake also issued a statement, stating that the President will participate in the two-day Summit, June 22 and 23, that looks at opportunities to restore fiscal space to countries that face difficult short-term financial challenges, especially the most indebted; mobilize innovative financing for countries vulnerable to climate change; foster development in low-income countries, and encourage investment in “green” infrastructure for the energy transition in emerging and developing economies. President Tinubu and the other global leaders, multilateral institutions, financial experts and economists will take a more holistic look at the recovery of economies from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, and rising cases of poverty, with a view to providing access to finance and investment that will leverage inclusive growth. The Summit, which will be hosted by President Emmanuel Macron of France, will be held at Palais Brongniart. The President will be accompanied by members of the Presidential Policy Advisory Council and senior government officials. He will return to Abuja on Saturday.
