National Chairman of APC, Adamu resigns following alleged gang up against him

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has reportedly resigned from his position following an alleged gang up against him by people around President Bola Tinubu to embarrass him during a meeting of the party slated for tomorrow and Wednesday. It was gathered that the former governor of Nasarawa State, Adamu tendered his resignation on Sunday night, July 16 in the absence of the president.

National Chairman of APC, Adamu resigns following alleged gang up against him

National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adam According to the report by Daily Trust, Adamu, who emerged as the national chairman at the party’s national convention held in March 2022, sent his resignation letter to the Presidential Villa, Abuja ahead of the return of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu from the African Union (AU) meeting in Kenya. He sent the letter to the Chief of Staff of the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, around 4 pm on Sunday. “He has resigned. The resignation letter signed by him has been sent to the villa. The letter was addressed to President Tinubu. But since the president is away in Kenya for the AU meeting, the letter was sent to his chief of staff,” a source said Also, a source close to Adamu reportedly corroborated this, adding that: “The national chairman resigned following a gang up by people around the president to embarrass him during the meetings of the party slated for tomorrow and Wednesday.” The source, however, denied a report that it was President Tinubu that asked Adamu to resign ahead of the National Caucus and National Executive Committee (NEC) meetings of the party slated for tomorrow and Wednesday. The party had fixed July 10 and 11 for its National Caucus and NEC meetings to iron out critical issues affecting it and the crisis within the National Working Committee (NWC). However, the meetings were later postponed and rescheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday. A founding member of the party said Adamu resigned when he got wind that two influential personalities around the president had mobilised against him ahead of the meetings. “He resigned because they have started to collate signatures to impeach him during the forthcoming meetings. He resigned to save himself from humiliation,” the top politician said When contacted, Adamu told this paper that he will not comment on the matter until President Tinubu returns from the AU’s meeting. “I won’t talk about the issue because the president is away,” Adamu who was the preferred candidate of former President Muhammadu Buhari for the chairmanship seat, said

Police invite Portable for leading ‘gang’ to brutalise young man [Video]

The Nigeria Police Force, Ogun State command, has ordered fast-rising singer, Portable, to report himself at the nearest police station, over a video clip circulating on social media, where he organised some youths to beat up a young man.
In a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, Abimbola Oyeyemi, on Monday, the police said that the incident happened somewhere within the state about two days ago and that the young man was inflicted with bodily injury as a result of the beating.

The PPRO described the act as barbaric, unruly, and unbecoming of Portable, who was supposed to be a role model for the youths.
The statement reads, “The attention of Ogun State Police Command has been drawn to a video clip circulating on social media where a popular hip-hop musician, Habeeb Okikiola a.k.a Portable, the Zazu crooner was seen organising some youths to beat up a young man and inflict bodily injury on him.
“The incident was said to have taken place somewhere within Ogun State about two days ago. Such unruly and violent behaviour is not only barbaric but unbecoming of somebody who is supposed to be a role model for the youths and therefore should not be tolerated.
“In view of this, the Command is using this medium to advise Okikiola Habeeb a.k.a Portable to report himself at the nearest police station in Ogun State, failure of which his arrest will be ordered.
“The flagrant display of impunity by ‘Portable’ in the viral video is condemnable and if not checked, it will send a wrong signal to the youths who are looking up to him as a role model.
“Jungle justice has no place in our laws and whoever embarked on it must be made to feel the weight of the law, no matter the status of such person.”
