Lekan Adekanbi, a suspect accused of killing ex-CBN staff, Kehinde Fatinoye, his wife, Bukola Fatinoye and their only son, Oreoluwa Fatinoye, on New Year’s Day in Abeokuta, Ogun state, has revealed the reason behind the gruesome murder.

Adekanbi, who was a driver to the couple since 2008, was arrested and paraded on Friday, February 10, at the state police headquarters in Abeokuta, alongside three others. Speaking with newsmen, he claimed that he arranged the killing because the couple refused to increase his salary and also lend him money to buy a motorcycle.

He disclosed that he invited the two other suspects, Ahmed Odetola a.k.a Akamo and Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi, to join him to rob the couple. In his words: “I took the step because the couple refused to increase my salary, and when I approached them for a loan to buy a motorcycle, they didn’t oblige. “Since that failed, I gave the deceased my Access Bank account to which the sum of N1,102,000 was transferred at gunpoint. “When I realised that my identity had been known through my bank account, I decided with others to terminate the couple. That was when Waheed Adeniyi a.k.a Koffi took a knife from their kitchen and slaughtered the husband Kehinde Fatinoye, while I used sledgehammer to hit the wife Bukola Fatinoye on the head and she died on the spot.” He added that while the robbery was on, Oreoluwa and the couple’s adopted son, Felix Olorunyomi entered the house and they were immediately seized, beaten and their hands fastened with ropes behind their back and subsequently driven to Ogun River Bridge at Adigbe where they were thrown into the river.

Sanwo-Olu wrote:
“With utter shock and sadness, I received the news of the mindless shooting of a citizen by a police officer whose primary job function was to protect the same citizen.
I hereby sympathize with the family, friends and associates of late Bolanle Raheem.
I am therefore assuring everyone of the State Government’s full support and cooperation with the police authorities in their investigation to unravel the remote and immediate cause of the shooting, that led to Bolanle’s untimely death, with a view to ensuring that justice is served.
I have studied preliminary reports on the matter and have instructed the appropriate Government officers to immediately get on it. We must ensure a speedy justice for the late Bolanle. Our Government cannot sit back and watch our citizens killed by the same law enforcers that should ordinarily protect them.
I’m aware that the Lagos State police command have arrested, disarmed and detained the police officers involved in the shooting incident. I can assure you that the accused persons will have their day in court, and nothing will be spared under the Laws of Lagos State until justice is served adequately. We will ensure that it is done speedily because justice delayed is justice denied.
I would also appeal to residents to remain calm and not take law into their hands on the matter, the State Government will live up to her responsibilities and get justice for late Bolanle Raheem.”

Why I almost killed myself

Why I almost killed myself

Nollywood actor, Kunle Remi, has revealed how depression almost caused him to take his life in 2017.
The actor opened up on his past struggles while reacting to the death of popular American Disc Jockey, Twitch, who was confirmed to have died by suicide on Wednesday.

In his speech, he advised men to speak up about their whatever they are going through and encouraged them to take a break once in a while when life gets hard.
He further disclosed that it was God’s grace that saw him through the challenges he faced.
In his words:
“Yesterday the news broke of DJ Twitch’s passing by suicide and it was a very sad news but I can absolutely relate to that.
“It’s never really fine as we say even though we always act like it’s fine. We go through a lot as men
“I remember in 2017 I had series of tweet that I went on to delete. It was very suicidal. Someone called me a year later and said I should go delete those tweets, I was going through a lot.
“I was overwhelmed, I was thinking too much of my career, am I doing enough, am I enough, am I with the right person, so many thoughts in my mind.
“At a point I could not take it, I felt so useless, not enough, incompetent, even though it was the contrary of what I felt, I was beating myself too much, then I started to tweet randomly and I was very close to jumping off the bridge or just taking my life. It took the grace of God for me to scale through that.
“I usually bottle up, I don’t share stuff but I learnt to become better doing that. And I just want to share a word with every man out there.
“Look it’s not easy and it’s not going to be easy, but talk to someone. Always have someone in your corner that you can talk too and open up with.
“Life is beautiful but it doesn’t guarantee that it will be smooth all the time but we need to always find a balance and choose happiness over being sad. I’ve been there, I’ve gone through it.
“Right now I still caution myself, I take life one day at a time, once I get overwhelmed I shut down. Depression, mental health are very important. We can do better. Just thought to share.”
