Sun Sports reports that since the sale was initiated in November 2022, the club has disbursed £7 million in legal and associated fees to US-based financial advisors Raine Group. The ongoing negotiations are gradually getting towards the potential £1.3 billion deal with Sir Jim Ratcliffe, who wants an immediate acquisition of an initial 25% stake at the club.

Kanu’s younger brother, Kanunta Kanu disclosed this in a tweet on Thursday, saying that Kanu’s counsels, Prof Mike Ozekhome SAN and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor have been sacked. The Nigerian Court of Appeal on October 13, 2022, in its judgment discharged and acquitted Kanu of all the charges levelled against him by the Nigerian government and ordered his immediate and unconditional release from detention. However, he remained in detention as the government objected to the Appeal Court ruling. Kanunta while accusing the lawyers of allegedly stopping medical doctors billed to attend to the secessionist at the DSS custody said, “After Nnadmi Kanu’s case on 11th May 2023, Prof Mike Ozekhome SAN has refused to see his client in DSS headquarters Abuja even after several messages from MNK to see him. “Secondly, for stopping the medical doctors who were to examine MNK on 5th June even when he and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor were duly informed on 2nd June and MNK told them to inform his family to arrange that. “For those obvious reasons and many more, Prof Mike Ozekhome SAN and Bar. Ifeanyi Ejiofor are hereby sacked as Nnamdi Kanu’s Counsels. “The Kanu family do appreciate your time and efforts so far, please hand over the legal documents ASAP”.

Factional leader of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, has given lawyers of the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi, a 48-hour ultimatum to brief him on the ongoing presidential election petitions tribunal. The ultimatum was given on Friday, May 12, after Apapa convened a parallel meeting of the National Executive Council of the party in Bauchi state.

The meeting was held after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ruled in his favour as the acting national chairman of the party. Justice Hamza Muazu who also said that he will go ahead to hear the substantive matter, adjourned the case till Friday, May 19, for further deliberation. Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola better known as Portable has hyped his legal team after they got him out of the jaws of the law following a three-day detention.

Recall that the Zazoo star was arrested by the Ogun state command after initial resistance and was made to cool his feet in detention before being arraigned. Following a court proceeding, Portable was granted bail of 300,000 naira which he was able to pay, along with other bail requirements. While ensconced in the safety of him home, Portable addressed his legal team who had done their best to get him out. He exalted them and advised others sitting around to ensure they get themselves good lawyers who are properly conversant with the legal system. Watch the video below:

The presidential candidate of Labour Party, Peter Obi, has decided to cancel his campaign trips and attend court proceedings with his lawyers.

According to a statement, made via Peter Obi’s Twitter handle on Wednesday, he shared that he has canceled his campaign plans. He said: “I am supposed to commence our whistle-stop campaign for our various Labour Party Governorship and State Assembly Candidates today. Initially, my trip was to take me to Nasarawa, Lagos, Enugu, Abia, Delta, Edo, Rivers, Plateau, Borno, etc However, following INEC’s refusal to allow our party to inspect the materials (including BVAS) from the 25th February presidential elections, I am personally heading to the court today with our lawyers. As we pursue due process and defer to the rule of law, I urge all the OBldients in the various states to continue campaigning for our candidates.”

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has demanded a whopping N5 billion as compensation to murdered lawyer  Mrs. Bolanle Raheem’s family.

The Association has also said that it will be monitoring the trial of Assistant Superintendent, Drambi Vandi, who allegedly shot and killed Mrs. Raheem in Lagos on Christmas Day.
In a statement signed by the branch member and rights activist of NBA Lagos, Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN), he disclosed that he was appointed to lead the monitoring team.
The statement read: “The NBA Lagos in conjunction with the NBA President, Mr. Y.C. Mikyau, SAN, has decided to be part of the prosecution of the policeman as part of its efforts towards securing quick and effective justice for the family of the deceased.
“In this regard, the NBA will be partnering with the Ministry of Justice during the trial.
“Mr. Adegboruwa has in turn obtained relevant briefing from the Hon. Attorney-General of Lagos State and has secured the assurances of an accelerated prosecution once the case file is received from the police.
“The NBA is also seeking monetary compensation for the family of Mrs. Raheem from the government of Lagos State, the Federal Government, and indeed the Nigeria Police Force and the Police Service Commission, through its Human Rights Committee.

Gbenga Raheem, the husband of the deceased lawyer, Bolanle Raheem who was shot dead on Christmas day by a police officer has recounted what had occured during the unfortunate incident .
The man said that he and his wife and other family members had gone to a nearby church for service on Christmas day.
After their service at church, they decided to take the whole family out to an eatery since it was Christmas.
On their way back home, they had made a U-turn under the Ajah bridge and encountered some policemen stopping and searching cars.
Gbenga Raheem said that in that moment he heard a loud crack on his wife’s side window, only for him to see that his wife’s chest was gushing with blood from a gunshot wound.
At this moment he ran out and his sister-in-law who was also in the car had ran out ahead of him and held on to the policeman but he cocked his gun at her.

He said that he had to run back to his car to try to offer help to his wounded wife, who he revealed was at this point gasping for breath.
The bereaved man revealed that his sister-in-law was able to drag back the policeman to their car and he was made to enter, whereupon they headed for the hospital.

Nigerian cryptocurrency trader, Linus Williams, popularly known as B Lord, has appreciated his barrister’s wife with a car gift as the celebration of their victory against the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, (EFCC), continues.
Recall that the Bitcoin trader was arrested in Awka, Anambra state, in August 2020, and wss wrongly paraded with 14 other suspects.

Thus, he dragged the anti-graft agency to the Enugu State Federal High Court.
On May 7, 2022, the Bitcoin trader announced his victory and recovered three of his cars which were impounded by the EFCC.
To thank his lawyer for making him win the case, he bought a brand new Toyota for the man’s wife and shared a video of him presenting the car to her.
He wrote; ”Just Gifted My Barrister’s Wife A New Car , Just Being Grateful @sniperkc , Na Barrister wey win case dem dey gift car.”
