A 51-year-old Lagos Pastor has been sentenced to life imprisonment by an Ikeja sexual offenses and domestic violence court for raping sisters.
The pastor, identified as Nduka Anyanwu pleaded guilty to defiling and impregnating two teenage sisters in August 2020. Judge Abiola Soladoye sentenced him on Tuesday, February 14, for impregnating the two sisters, aged 13 and 17 years old, both of whom have given birth. The convict was said to have defiled the two sisters on the guise of holding prayer sessions at a church complex in Oshodi in August 2020. The judge held that the evidence presented against the convict was convincing and consistent. Soladayo described the convict as morally-bankrupt, adding that his name should be published in the state’s sex offenders’ register. Abiola Soladoye disclosed that the police ought to have charged the parents of the victims/survivors alongside the convict. She described the parents as irresponsible, saying that they encouraged the survivors to get defiled by the defendant. “On several occasions, one of the survivors went back to the parents to complain about the conduct of the defendant. She was b€aten and sent back to the defendant’s home. The prosecution has proved the ingredients of the offenses against the morally-bankrupt defendant,” the Judge noted.
The sum of $12 million was reported to have mysteriously disappeared from Bolt’s account in a statement released by his lawyer. The account with the company was created to act as a pension for both of his parents and Usain Bolt, an Associated Press reported. “The account was part of Bolt’s retirement and lifetime savings. It’s distressing news for anyone, and certainly in the case of Mr Bolt; who established this account as part of his private pension. “We will be going to court with the matter” if the company does not return the funds. “It is a grave disappointment, and we are hoping that the matter will be resolved in a way that Mr Bolt will recover his money and be able to live in peace,” his lawyer, Linton P. Gordon, told Fortune magazine over the phone on Wednesday. Stocks and Securities Ltd said in a statement on January 12 stated that it was aware of the fraudulent transaction orchestrated by a former employee of theirs and has alerted necessary authorities. It also assured that necessary precautions to secure customers’ assets are put in place to avoid such repeating itself. Jamaica’s Finance Minister, Nigel Clarke reacted to the development with claims that SSL had committed “alarming and evil fraud” and promised to “bring all perpetrators to justice.”
