A trending photo of a shopping list written in the year 1984 has gone viral on social media with netizens expressing shock at the prices. Others have criticized the government for the current high cost of living, stating that the prices in 1984 were much more affordable. The shopping list has sparked a heated debate on social media about the state of the economy and the rising cost of living. Amblessed Damians said: “When Nigeria is a better country.” Jay Emmanuel said: “Even if we were in that generation we’ll still see a reason or two to complain. For me l’m thankful for where we are today and also hopeful for a better tomorrow 100. People of 1980+ didn’t see as much money as we do today so it’s realistic that the value drops over time.” Azeez Adekunle Ridwan reacted: “My dad told me that around that period, late 70s to be precise, as an automobile engineer, if he worked from Monday to Friday and he’s able to accumulate #5, the whole weekend is settled. And there’d still be enough to start the new week. That was before Nigeria happened to Nigeria.” Chimezie Okoronkwo-nnadiekwe said: “I was lucky to had met 10 kobo I remembered stealing 10 kobo for my mom is to go and buy kwuli kwuli and the woman took the money and went and report me to my mom .. Omo my eyes see my back that day .. better flogging .. life was so easy then every Sunday then tap water will be running all over the street powered by the local government… Nigeria is really damaged beyond repairs.”

“Why Tinubu has not unveiled ministerial list” — Adamu

Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has revealed that President Bola Tinubu is yet to unveil his new ministers because he’s doing extensive consultation. Adamu made this known on Monday in Abuja, during a meeting with APC chairmen across the country.

“Why Tinubu has not unveiled ministerial list” — Adamu

President Bola Tinubu He said, “The president has just started. And he is doing his extensive consultation before coming up with his nominees for ministers. “The nomination of the ministers will come first. They will go through their screening until they are pronounced after they have been submitted by Mr. President. “And Mr. President will formally appoint his ministers and swear them in. “Only after doing that will he disclose each of them to the country to know which minister is going to which ministry, and how many ministries we are going to have,” Adamau said. There are strong indications that no fewer than five former governors will feature in the president’s list of nominees that is heading to the Senate for approval between now and next week. The unusual list, already dubbed the ‘cabinet of (political) unity’, will have nominees drawn from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and many technocrats.

Mercy Johnson’s alleged list of mothers continues to increase

GistReel

Weeks after a Ghanaian family appeared in a viral video claiming to be Mercy Johnson’s mother and sister, a new woman from Cameroon has joined the trending list. The woman in a trending video claims that the actress’ real name isn’t Mercy Johnson. This brings the list to 3 total alleged mothers. In 2018, at the death of her late mother Elizabeth Johnson, a Felicia Ukoh also claimed to be the real mother of the Nollywood star. Mercy Johnson recently lost her father Daniel Johnson in May 2023. In her tribute to her late father, the actress said: “The very reality of your demise is difficult to grasp. Even as I pen these words down, I am unable to process the thought of never seeing you again. I still feel like it is all a dream to wake up from but alas! I am not sure of what to believe anymore. That you are forever gone is hard to accept. “Nothing consoles me more than knowing that you were a man who loved God so much and will surely be in His abode. As I wallow in the pain of your painful transit, I leave all to our Father in Heaven in whose hands lies all answers. “Adieu Papa, you are sorely missed here. Continue to rest in the bossom of our Lord Almighty until we meet to part no more.”
