“Alaafin of Oyo prayed for Tinubu to be president on his deathbed” — Monarch’s son

"Alaafin of Oyo prayed for Tinubu to be president on his deathbed" — Monarch's son

The late Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III expressed his desire for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu to become the next Nigerian president on his deathbed, according to his son.

The monarch died on April 22, 2023, after a brief illness at the Afe Babalola University Teaching Hospital in Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State capital. A year after his passing, his son Akeem Adeyemi shares their conversation, in which the Alaafin emphasized his wish for a Yoruba presidency and specifically supported Tinubu for the role. Akeem made this known in an interview with The Punch. “You won’t believe it but the last thing he said to me was, “Skimeh, bawo ni oro oga yin o?’’ He asked me how my boss’s ambition was progressing. He told me that Asiwaju Tinubu must become Nigeria’s President and I told him to rest, and that was the last thing we spoke about before he died,” the monarch’s son said. According to Akeem, who is a member of the Federal House of Representatives, the late Alaafin’s last visitor before his passing was Tinubu, and the traditional ruler had also visited 27 Yoruba monarchs to discuss the prospect of Tinubu becoming president. Akeem stated that Alaafin prayed for Tinubu’s success and urged the people of Oyo and Yorubaland to support him wholeheartedly. “I’m telling you this now. Many people will read this interview. Kabiyesi visited more than 27 Obas in their palaces to talk about Asiwaju’s emergence as Nigeria’s next President. He met Akirun of blessed memory. “He met Awujale. The last Oba that visited Kabiyesi before he died was Oluwo of Iwo, and the discussion was about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he added. “His last wish was to see the next President of Nigeria as a Yoruba man and not just any Yoruba man; he was particular about Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu being President. He continued; “He saw Asiwaju as a discoverer of talents, someone who’ll lay the foundation to build on, someone who will not only demonstrate good governance and put Nigeria on the path of progress and development but also as someone who knows that there’s no success without a good successor. “He said, “Prince, the reason why I want that man(Tinubu) is that it’s not about his term as President. Asiwaju will let you know that as good as you might rate his tenure, there’s no success without a good successor. “He’ll ensure after he might have completed his tenure, that he gives you a good successor. You can imagine what will become of Nigeria in that kind of situation.” Thankfully, that wish has come to pass.”

I prayed hard for that man to leave his wife and marry me. Eventually God listened and my man divorced her and married me. My problem now is the child he has with his ex wife is always sick, so my husband spends most his time at the hospital with his ex wife. I tried to understand but I can’t anymore. I think the ex will try to use their child’s health to steal my husband. Please advise me. I don’t want to lose my man.”

“We saw hell; I prayed and prayed and prayed” – Train attack survivor narrates ordeal

"We saw hell; I prayed and prayed and prayed" – Train attack survivor narrates ordeal

The lucky survivors of the train attack which occurred on Monday have spoken out about their ordeal.

Several persons were slain and several others were kidnapped by terrorists during an assault between the settlements of Kateri and Rijana in Kaduna state.
One of the survivors of the attack, Maimuna Ibrahim, who sustained a bullet wound in the thigh, spoke to media from her hospital bed and described the ordeal as terrible.
Maimuna said:
“We saw hell, I prayed and prayed and prayed, I went to a workshop in Abuja in the morning and I was on my way back to Kaduna that same day after the workshop,”
“I was shot on the thigh. But the bullet did not touch my bone. The bullet penetrated out of my thigh. Honestly, we suffered seriously, but thank God soldiers came and they really helped us,”

She revealed that after she had sustained a bullet wound in the thigh, she couldn’t walk so she had to be carried out by the soldiers:

“I was unable to walk, it was the soldiers who carried me on the back to the vehicle that brought us to the hospital. They were able to pass over the cliff, carrying us on their backs! Seriously, they tried because it was not easy climbing the cliff,”
She added:
“The terrorists came, were moving about in the train, but they did not come to where I was seated. I was hit by the bullet through the window. They entered SP17. As they were shooting, the police security on the train asked us to lie down on the floor of the train so that the bullet will not get at us. Unfortunately before I could lie down the bullet hit me,”
“I saw the terrorists from the window. They were many, they were small boys of between the ages of 18 and 20. They appeared like Fulani. They wore turbans. They don’t look like Nigerians. They were shouting Allahakubar.”
“They abducted some people, I saw them forcing people out of the train. They were beating them as they were taking them out of the train. They were shouting Allahuhakubar, Allahuhakubar as they shot sporadically”
Another survivor, Fatima Shuaibu, speaking from her hospital bed revealed that her sister was killed by the attack.
Amid tears, she said:
“My sister, Zainab Awal, was shot on the stormach and she died.”
Shuaibu revealed that she had been seeing flashes of torch through her window and she had thought it was the locals around there, but when she heard a loud explosion, she knew something was amiss.
“I was seated by the window in the train. Suddenly I started seeing flashes of touch light, this was around 8pm. Then there was a loud bang as if something exploded. Then the train went off track as if was falling down. We started shouting and praying. As soon as the train stopped, we started hearing gunshots.
The security personnel on the train announced that everybody should lie down on the floor of the train. They attacked the VIP couch, they abducted some people and took them to the bush, they shot other people
“They operated for about two hours or so before soldiers and Airforce arrived and they exchanged gunshots. The terrorists came with five buses and motorcycles. Those who were abducted were taken away in the Sharon buses
The terrorists were small boys of between 18 to 20 years. I saw them, they dont look like Nigerians. The soldiers rescued us in the train. Those of us who were injured were evacuated from the train. They climbed the cliff with us and took us to the expressway where vehicles were brought to carry people.”

Man narrates encounter with religious people who prayed loudly on bus but slammed him for praying to the gods loudly

Young man narrates an encounter during a trip with religious people who took turns praying at the top of their voices without considering other passengers.

According to a Twitter user identified simply as @johnysky22, he passed a message on the hypocrisy of the religious people on the bus with him by buying kola nuts to worship deities loudly just as they did.
His prayer approach, however, was rebuked by the religious worshipers who confronted him for such an approach.

“I once entered a bus from Enugu to Abuja, as always as the journey began, Christians in the bus asked the driver to turn down the music that they wanted to pray, he obliged. The prayers began in ernest, singing, praises, casting and binding etc, afterwards the journey continued.
I for one felt it was unfair for every passenger to be subjected to an involuntary not minding whether they were Christians or not. I decided to pay them back in their own coin.
We got to Flyer Over where these boys stand to hawk kola, I bought a piece then called out to the Driver to tune down the music that I wanted to pray. He did and the whole bus fell silent.
I began by invoking the ancestors, invoking ezechitoke, eze bu na agu, pouring out traditional prayers and suplications the best I could all the while breaking the kola.
Gradually mood inside the bus began to change, hisses here and there, some audibly mumbling and I could swear some where countering the prayers with holy ghost fire. I did not flinch despite the disapproval, a guy behind me was more than happy to be responding, “Iseee!” to my
Prayers.
I spent nearly 10 minutes praying, stretching it for as long as I could afford and not break down laughing. After the prayers, the hisses and mumbles came like an applause. I gave kola to the guy behind me, offered to everyone around and they summarily ignored me.
Some women even behaved like we were quarreling, another man at the back of the bus clearly amused also took the kola. After there was an awkward silence for minutes, only the sound of kola being chewed was heard.
A woman broke the silence ”
“Bia nna a kedu ụdị nonsense bụ ihe a imere?” she asked.
“exactly ụdị nonsense gi wa mere too” I responded.
“How did you do this here knowing we don’t practice this fetish nonsense with you?” she asked again.
“Exactly the same way you did yours without minding that not all of us practice the same fetish delusional nonsense with you” I replied.
The whole bus mumbled, the guy behind laughed so hard, he was enjoying the exchange.
I ended up spending the next 10 minutes preaching about a lesson in hypocrisy, the usual bible preaching evangelical session we get in buses just me preaching about hypocrisy and how even Jesus abhorred hypocrisy.
Goes without saying that we had a rather awkward journey
Until after Lokoja before people started to unwind more. Though the woman beside me rolled her eyes a lot at me and made sure there was at no point that her body would touch mine which I greatly appreciated.”
