The lawmakers asked Nigerians to pray for the implementation of the policy, shortly after a member of the lower chamber of the national assembly, Abdulraheem Olajide moved a motion of urgent public importance, praising President Tinubu for making the pronouncement on Monday, May 29.

Source: Web Despite the scarcity of petrol that ensued after the announcement was made, Olajide said lawmakers must support Tinubu in the subsidy removal because he campaigned to do so. He said; “The legislature must support the President in delivering dividends of democracy, which will go a long way in enhancing development because he asked for it and campaigned for it. And he is ready for the task ahead.”

The Majority Leader of the House of Representatives, Alhassan Ado Doguwa wins the Tudun Wada/Doguwa Constituency seat of Kano State.

Doguwa bagged the federal seat following a supplementary election held on Saturday in the area. The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s returning officer Professor Sani Ibrahim announced the results, saying the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate got 41, 573 votes. His closest opponent and the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) flagbearer Yushau Salisu polled 34,831 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) got 211. A breakdown of the voter register showed that 227, 912 persons were registered, and 80, 933 got accreditation. But after Saturday’s exercise, the total votes cast was 79, 705; valid votes were 78,788, and rejected ballots amounted to 917. Doguwa will be serving his fifth term when the 10th assembly is inaugurated in June. This is coming weeks after he was arrested for alleged m¥rder on Election Day in Kano.

Labour Party’s Attah polled 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,666 votes, and Babajide Obanikoro of the APC, who had 16, 901 votes. Babajide, who is a son of former Minister of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, is the current lawmaker representing the constituency.

Music entrepreneur, Olubankole Wellington a.k.a Banky W, has won the ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to contest for the House of Representatives, Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the 2023 elections.
He accumulated 28 votes which put him on top of the list of the many contenders who were jostling for the same ticket.

This will be his second attempt at winning a ticket to contest as member of the green chamber.
In the 2019 elections, Wellington contested the House of Representatives seat under the Modern Democratic Party (MDP), but lost to Ibrahim Obanikoro of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
In a video that has now gone viral, the votes of the primaries were counted and closely monitored by the delegates and members of the party.

Nigerian veteran artiste, Olubankole Wellington a.k.a Banky W, has declared his intention to serve as a federal legislator in the forthcoming 2023 election under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

The entertainer noted that he will be contesting to represent Eti-Osa local government area of Lagos state in the House of Representatives.
“We must engage with Nigeria where it is, not where we prefer for it to be. We must no longer be content to shout from the sidelines. We must get into the system to fix it,” Banky W wrote on his page.
Meanwhile, mixed reactions trailed his declaration online.
@Adeleye Samuel wrote: “Why PDP? We can now see the reason for ur persistent criticism on social media.”

@Sam Duntoye: “Whether we like it or not, these two parties are the major for now and if we have youths being accepted genuinely to create that change we want, the better for us all. Most new parties does not have the fund and most youths on social media are not ready to do fundraising to set up a youth party due to trust issue.”
