According to reports, the Kuki women, along with their family and others, attempted to flee the violence by taking a dirt lane when they were cornered by the mob. In the harrowing video, the mob can be seen assaulting the women and demanding that they strip naked. One of the women, who is in her forties, recounted the horrifying ordeal, stating that when they resisted, they were threatened with death if they did not comply.

During the assault, the men subjected the women to physical abuse, including slapping and punching, as they lay defenseless in the paddy fields. The situation took an even darker turn when one of the men suggested raping one of the women, but thankfully, the assault did not escalate to that extent. However, they did not escape further violation, as the men brutally grabbed their breasts. In the wake of this appalling incident, a police complaint was filed by the relatives of the victims. The complaint alleged that one of the women was subsequently gang-raped. Based on this complaint, the police have registered a zero FIR at the Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district on May 18. The complaint has led to charges being pressed against “unknown miscreants” numbering between 800 to 1,000, who are accused of carrying sophisticated weapons like AK Rifles, SLR, INSAS, and .303 Rifles. The complaint further claims that the mob also went on to burn and vandalize houses in the village.
