Reno Omokri trashes idea that Tems is first Nigeria to win Grammy

GistReel

Former presidential aide, Reno Omokri, has trashed the comment on social media that Tems is the first Nigerian to win a Grammy award. reno omokri Nigerian singer Tems was nominated in the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ and ‘Best Rap Song’ and won the ‘Best Melodic Rap Performance’ category on Sunday night, at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in Los Angeles. After Tems win, a lot of have hailed her as they tag her as the first Nigerian songstress to win a Grammy award. However, Reno Omokri has debunked the claims that Tems is the first Nigerian adding that Nigerian-British singer, Sade Adu, never identified herself as a Nigerian. According to Reno, Sade has spent 40 years promoting Nigeria and it would be wrong to give her credit to Tems. He wrote: Sade Adu has always identified with Nigeria. When interviewed, she stressed her Nigerianness. She did not funkify her name to make it sound European. In interview after interview, she asserted the fact that she is a Nigerian born in Ibadan. So, let us appreciate her. She is the first Nigerian female to win a Grammy in 1986. In honouring another female who eminently deserves to be honoured, let us not dishonour Sade Adu. By saying someone else is the first Nigerian female to win a Grammy, what we are telling Ms. Adu is that she is not a Nigerian. I know many people will rush here to insult me. But before commenting, take a minute to put yourself in Sade Adu’s shoes. You have spent 40 years promoting Nigeria. Insisting to the British media that you are Nigerian when they proudly claimed you for Britain. Then today, you read that someone else is the first Nigerian female to win a Grammy. How would you feel? If after you have put yourself in Sade Adu’s shoes you still feel the need to insult me, then please go ahead.

Gundogan accuses Manchester City teammates of lacking desire to win

GistReel

Ahead of a derby showdown with Manchester United, Ilkay Gundogan has accused his Manchester City teammates of having the wrong attitude and not showing the same desire that has brought them success in recent years.

Gundogan accuses Manchester City teammates of lacking desire

Gundogan made the claim after Manchester City suffered a 2-0 defeat to Southampton during an EFL match. Sharing his recent findings with reporters, the German footballer said; “Definitely I would share that it was a lack of attitude, lack of confidence, lack of commitment you know. I feel like, especially today, but even in the last few weeks, we had games where we could have done better. “Maybe we’ve won games, but I feel like something was a little bit missing, something’s off. Obviously, with the quality we have in the squad, we’re always able to win games, even when we don’t have the best day. Gundogan accuses Manchester City teammates of lacking desire “But at the moment it feels like there’s a special recipe missing in the team – performances, the desire and hunger is maybe not as it was in recent years. “It’s tough, against even a side that’s struggling a little bit in the Premier League right now, but we knew that Southampton was always tough to play, always very aggressive and always able to score a goal. “Unfortunately we made it too easy for them and in the end we need to admit that with a performance like that, we deserved to lose. Hopefully it was the right wake-up call for us. If it is it’s something good we can take out of the game. “We have to do better, we need to start the hard work again and be humble, because things will not come to us automatically – we need to deserve them.”

I can bet with anything precious to me Labour Party will not win in 2023 – Festus Keyamo

Minister of state for Labour and spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima Campaign Organisation, Festus Keyamo, has dismissed chances of the Labour Party winning the 2023 presidential election.
Keyamo who appeared on Tuesday night’s live episode of Politics Today on Channel TV, stated that the Labour Party lacks the structure necessary to guarantee their victory in the 2023 presidential election.

The Minister also said that he can bet with anything precious to him that Labour Party won’t win in 2023. He added that the praise Peter Obi and the Labour Party are receiving are merely contextual and won’t help them win the election.
Keyamo said;
“The praise we are having for the Labour Party is a contextual kind of praise. It is not a kind of praise that they will use to win the election. It is not the type of praise, the type of hype that is contextual in the sense that this is a young party and they are doing well than we expected. It is not that people expect them to win.

I can bet with anything precious to me Labour Party will not win in 2023 – Festus Keyamo

“I can bet with anything that is precious to me on earth that the Labour Party will not win. I can tell you and I am that confident.
“Flip it to the other way round; APC wakes up tomorrow morning, they lose the support of all 21 governors. They don’t have any governors supporting them, they don’t have senators, and they can only fill only 30% of senatorial seats. That is what the Labour Party has been able to do about senatorial seats and the House of Reps seats.
“They don’t have representatives for about 70% of the seats, flip it to us and say that happened to us, APC. That elder statesmen are the only ones endorsing us, PA (Ayo) Adebanjo, (Olusegun) Obasanjo, Edwin Clark. And that is the only supporters APC wakes up to see on the ground. People will say we have failed as a party. People will say APC has failed.”
