Peter Olayinka, First Nigerian To Score On His Champions League Debut Since 2002.17 years after Yakubu Ayegbeni!
The 2019/20 UEFA Champions League has officially kicked off, and besides Chelsea and Liverpool losing their first games, fans are talking about Peter Olayinka, who made history as the first Nigerian player to score on his Champions League debut since 2002.
Signed to Slavia Prague in the Czech first league, Olayinka played for 85 minutes in the team’s game against Inter Milan. The 23-year-old scored Slavia Prague’s only goal 18 minutes into the second half, right before he was substituted.
He now joins the likes of Emmanuel Amokachi, Victor Ikpeba, Endurance Idahor, and Yakubu Ayegbeni, who are the only Nigerians to have scored in their Champions League debut. The most memorable of these four have to be Ayegbeni’s resounding hat-trick in 2002.
With Olayinka’s goal coming 17 years after, he’s certainly gotten our attention.

R Kelly ‘s Bail Saviour Wants Her Money Back, But the Judge won’t agree. #NXLifestyle
Back in February, a mysterious person posted $100,000 for R. Kelly’s bail, which was enough of the full $1 million for him to get out of jail at the time.
That person was eventually identified as Valencia Love, and now she wants her money back. Love’s lawyer filed a motion in Cook County Circuit Court last week to try to recover it, but the presiding judge said not today, according to reporting by the Chicago Sun-Times.
(It’s possible the money could be returned to her when the court proceedings are finished, but that’s potentially years away.)
The thing is, though, she’s not turning her back on the singer accused of many rapes and sexual assaults. “At no point have I ever supported a pedophile,” Love told the paper. “He has not been convicted yet. Why is it so bad that I did a favor for a friend?”
Kelly, she says, actually paid her back months ago, and the bail money was just a short-term loan while he didn’t have access to his cash. Apparently, she’s trying to get it now so she can reinvest it in his defense “to cover his legal costs and other expenses.”

iPhone 11 pricing shows Apple is learning from past mistakes.
KEY POINTS
- Apple announced its newest, basic model will be priced at $699 rather than $749.
- Apple has shown an ability to be tactical and understand the market dynamics” with its pricing, says Bank of America’s Wamsi Mohan.
- The tech giant is selling the iPhone 11 at a price drop that will hopefully draw in customers since iPhone unit sales peaked in 2015.
Apple on Tuesday announced its new iPhones with improved technology, but the focus is on the attractive price point. The tech giant is selling the iPhone 11 for $699, a $50 price drop from last year’s equivalent model. The lower pricing is an unusual move for the company, which has historically maintained premium pricing.
But analysts believe Apple’s newfound pricing strategy could rekindle iPhone sales, which peaked in 2015. Apple stopped reporting unit sales this year.
“Apple has shown an ability to be tactical and understand the market dynamics,” said Wamsi Mohan, senior equity research analyst at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, on “Squawk Alley.”
A Goldman Sachs analyst echoed similar sentiments to CNBC earlier in the day.
“The pricing on the iPhone, the base iPhone, is attractive,” said Rod Hall, a senior equity analyst. “I would expect unit share to shift over to that aggressively.”
Hall added that there’s not much room left to raise prices on the iPhone, even though it becomes “more attractive” with upgrades.
It’s a move that took several analysts by surprise.
“We came out largely positive from the event… led by Lowered Pricing of iPhone 11 relative to XR, which could act as a positive driver for volumes in the entry-level premium smartphone segment,” wrote J.P. Morgan in a research note Wednesday.
However, Hall said he’s not confident the drop in price will boost sales.
“You’re probably not going to get a lot more unit demand coming through as a result of that lower price,” he said.
Shares of Apple rose around 2.87% on Wednesday after climbing more than 1% on Tuesday.

Lionel Messi Leads Top 10 Player Ratings For FIFA 20 Game.
The ‘FIFA 20’ demo is out by EA Sports on Xbox One, Playstation 4 and PC.
This week the top-rated players were announced with Lionel Messi of Barcelona leading the way with a 94.
The game is set to be released in the United States on Sept. 24.
As you would expect, Messi is joined near the top by Cristiano Ronaldo, while PSG superstar Neymar follows.
Here’s a look at the top 10:
Cristiano Ronaldo (Piemonte Calcio*) – 93
Neymar (PSG) – 92
Eden Hazard (Real Madrid) – 91
Kevin De Bruyne (Manchester City) – 91
Jan Oblak (Atletico Madrid) – 91
Virgil van Dijk (Liverpool) – 90
Mohamed Salah (Liverpool) – 90
Luka Modric (Real Madrid) – 90
Marc-Andre Ter Stegen (Barcelona) – 90
Note: You may notice a different team name next to Ronaldo’s instead of Juventus, but that’s because Juve is not in licensed in the game this year — as the club signed exclusively with “PES 2020.” Juve is replaced by Piemonte Calcio — a created name with different jerseys, stadium, etc.
On the list, there’s not a whole lot to disagree with. Perhaps Kylian Mbappe of PSG could be there at some point, and maybe Sergio Ramos of Real Madrid.
I would have put Liverpool’s Alisson at No. 10 over Barca’s goalkeeper, and maybe not put Eden Hazard so high up.
I don’t think many would have argued with Mbappe being on the list and ahead of Neymar with the French superstar coming off another fantastic season in which he scored 39 goals.
Rafael Nadal wins yet another U.S. Open men’s championship
Rafael Nadal won yet another U.S. Open men’s championship on Sunday night, defeating 23-year-old Russian Daniil Medvedev.
In winning the fourth U.S. Open of his career — and his 19th Grand Slam title overall, one shy of the record, the 33-year-old Nadal had to outlast a player 10 years his junior in a nearly five-hour, five-set match. Nadal won $3.85 million as the 2019 men’s U.S. Open champion, and he’s now won more than $115 million in total career prize money.
Nadal, who won his first-ever Grand Slam title as a 19-year-old at the 2005 French Open, has experienced massive and sustained success for well over a decade even as he’s battled injuries that threatened his career at times.
