Popular Nigerian Actress cum politician Funke Akindele has reportedly lost her mother Dr. RB Adebanjo–Akindele to death, a few hours ago.
The sad news was shared by the elder sister, Olubunmi Akindele of the actress Funke Akindele on her social media page. Sharing the heart-wrenching news, Funke’s sister wrote; “It is with heavy hearts, but in total submission to God Almighty that the ADEBANJO and AKINDELE families announce the passing of their daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, DR. R B ADEBANJO-Akindele, which occurred on Tuesday 07 February 2023. “May her gentle soul begin its rest eternal in peace Amen. Obsequies in honour of her passing shall be announced in due course.”
Thugs chase Funke Akindele out of Lagos Market, Jandor fumes
Reports say that the Lagos state governorship candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Funke Akindele was chased out of the Ketu fruit market. According to reports, Funke Akindele was harassed and chased out of the Ketu fruit market by some hoodlums where she went to campaign ahead of the election. Reacting to the incident that happened yesterday, the PDP governorship candidate, Abdul-Azeez Adediran popularly known as Jandor during a meeting with the chief IImam of Ketu Central Mosque, condemned the act and disclosed that his team members were stabbed during the attack. Jandor also confirmed that Akindele left the campaign train while the team continued to move around the streets in the council. Jandor further disclosed that a member of his security team was stabbed while others including journalists were injured during the attack. His words: “What is happening we do not want it again. It is not good for democracy, but despite the attacks, we are moving and still motivated to rescue our people. “I know it is only God that can give and take, if God gives you no one can take.”

Nollywood actress cum politician Funke Akindele has stormed the Celestial Headquarters of Christ ahead of the General elections.
The Lagos State Deputy Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Funke Akindele took to her page to share her experience of worship with the Celestial Headquarters of Christ, Ibukun-Olu Parish Aleke Circuit Headquarters in Ikorodu. While speaking at the church, she stated that although she did not come to campaign, she accuses everyone that when elected alongside her flag-bearer, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Adediran, they will rule with the fear of God to alleviate the suffering of the masses. Today; I am very happy and want to thank God for the successes achieved in life. I did not come here today for campaign, but to thank God and worship with you as family and members of CCC. Just help me thank God and pray for me not to experience challenges that will be more than my capacity, she said. Funke Akindele promised to build more health facilities and also increase the number of Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) to improve health services in the State. It is high time people should allow another government to take over and solve the current hardship in Lagos. We have different programs ranging from free education to women empowerment and so on. What you need now is to start to canvass for votes so that we can win the election.
Funke Akindele shares saddest moment while on movie set of Battle On Bukka Street
Nollywood actress and movie producer Funke Akindele has shared the saddest day in her life while on the movie set of Battle On Bukka Street.
The actress who has been trending on social media over her popular movie that premiered recently “Battle on Bukka Street” has opened up on how difficult to shoot some of the movie scenes due to her mood.
In a video making rounds, Funke Akindele shares some experiences with Wazobia FM on her saddest day while shooting a scene with Mercy Johnson.
During the interview, the host asked Funke Akindele if there was a difficult time for her during the movie shoot. “In this your new movie, Battle on Buka Street, is there any particular scene that gave you a seriously tough time to film?”
Funke responded:
“Okay, I want my fans to note this scene. Ha, the fight scene between Mercy [Johnson Okojie] and I, that scene I shot it on the saddest day of my life. I was emotionally down. I cried finish.
I cried cried cried, prayed, knelt down, cried, cried, cried. They now called me to come and shoot. Ha! My sister, I breathed in and out. I now told myself “don’t give up Funke!”
Troubled times will come, but it will go. It will pass. Change na the only thing wey constant. This time will change, that is how I put myself together. [They shouted] “Action!”, that is how I did it.
Once they cut, that’s how I started crying again. I will go to one corner, clean my eye, and “Action” again, I pick up. Till I finished the film. So my fans, I want you to note that scene. That scene I filmed it on the saddest day of my life.”

While eulogizing the actress on her 59th birthday, Funke Akindele disclosed that when she was still trying to get fame through acting, she told the veteran actress her desire to share a stage with her someday. In response, Funke disclosed how Sola Sobowale prayed for her and told her her dreams will soon come to pass.
In a sweet birthday message to the veteran Sola Sobowale, she said;
“I’ve known My Darling Aunty Sola Sobowale for years.
“Quick Story, when I was still trying to find my feet in the movie industry. I met Aunty Sola on a film set. I walked up to her and told her that someday I pray and wish to work with her on a project as a Producer or a Director. She wished me well and prayed for me. She told me that day would come to pass and it surely did. Just as you said Aunty, you worked with me on Battle on Buka Street and it’s a hit!!!

Famous Nollywood actress, Funke Akindele has spilt the beans on what led to her separation with ex-husband, JJC Skillz.
In a recent interview with LegitNG, the star actress revealed that she and her husband’s dream as well as vision on what their marriage should be no longer aligned.
They had decided to call it quits after that since there was no longer any point in staying together and efforts to make it work proved abortive.
In her words:
“Well, the truth is our dreams and vision of what our marriage should be just no longer aligned. And efforts to make it work all fell on deaf ears, so why hang around.”
It would be recalled that her husband, JJC Skillz had announced their separation in June.
