Sitting behind the expectant mother at the time, she could not bear the thought of letting the newborn fall onto the bus. She said; “At first, I was panicking. I have been working in midwifery for seven years, but when I encountered that case, I panicked because I didn’t even have protective garments like gloves. I had to use my bare hands to collect the baby; I couldn’t just watch the baby fall on the bus.” The midwife’s bravery and quick thinking shone through as she skillfully assisted the pregnant woman in giving birth amid the challenging circumstances of a moving vehicle. Fatimata’s intervention proved successful, and she safely delivered a bouncing baby boy, bringing immeasurable joy and relief to both the mother and herself. Reflecting on the incredible event, Fatimata described it as the most fulfilling moment of her seven-year career in midwifery. “It’s fulfilling and joyous. Since my seven years of midwifery, today is my most fulfilling moment because I feel like I have saved a mother in her vulnerable state,” she expressed with heartfelt emotion. Following the delivery, both the new mother and her baby were promptly provided with the necessary medical care at a nearby clinic.
