Spokesperson of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin has tackled reality star, Phyna after clashing with a Police officer. Recall that the Big Brother Naija ‘Level Up’ winner went live on social media after getting into a heated argument with a police officer about his filming her.
The stop and search operation carried out by a police officer escalated into a verbal altercation. The policeman clarified that it is legal for them to take pictures and recordings of the people they are tracking. Phyna expressed her displeasure, saying she had never heard of such a law. Phyna escalated the situation by questioning why there was hate for her and criticising people who were pushing the police to act against her.
In response, SP Benjamin noted that while Nigerians are calm when they record police officers, they find it difficult and perceive it as harassment when an officer does the same to them. He revealed that the reality star was disobeying the traffic law, which is why she was filmed as evidence. He also pointed out the hypocrisy and saying that Nigerians couldn’t handle what they were dishing out. In his words: “If you were in my shoes, somebody carries phone on your face, you’ll get angry. Benjamin Mendy turning up for his trial in an English court Benjamin Mendy who became a free agent after his release from Manchester City this year, signed a two-year deal with Lorient. Lorient, who finished 10th in Ligue 1 last season, handed Mendy the No5 shirt after announcing his arrival on Wednesday, July 19. Announcing their new signing, the French club wrote in a statement;

He made a total of 75 appearances for the club, winning four Premier League titles during his time in the north-west. Mendy was also part of the French squad that won the 2018 World Cup. He was released by City when his contract expired at the end of June, last playing for the club in August 2021.

Source: Web The jury of six women and six men were told by the trial Judge Stephen Everett, the Recorder of Chester, that the French international footballer was found not guilty of sexual offences alleged by other women after a trial that ended in January this year. He told jurors that the jury last time could not reach verdicts on the two charges they are hearing, that of rape and attempted rape, hence his re-trial on those two charges. The judge warned them not to look up details of the past trial or follow coverage in the media, and only decide the case on the evidence heard in court in the current trial. In his opening statement at the trial, the prosecutor Benjamin Aina said; “Benjamin Mendy is a footballer who was under contract to Manchester City FC. He would have parties and social gatherings at his home, The Spinney, in Mottram St Andrew, Cheshire. He would have both male and female guests at his social gatherings.

On one occasion he tried to have forced sex with a female guest, woman A. On another occasion, he raped a female guest in one of his bedrooms, woman B.” Outlining details of the alleged rape of woman B, Aina said Mendy led her to his bedroom where she asked for her phone back. The court heard she was concerned because it contained “intimate” images. In the locked bedroom, Aina said, Mendy told the woman he just wanted to look at her, telling her to take her clothes off. Woman B complied, leaving her underwear on, and Mendy then threw her phone on the bed, the court heard. As she went to retrieve it, Mendy is alleged to have taken hold of her from behind and raped her despite her telling him she did not want to have sex. Aina told the jury: “At this stage, Mr. Mendy took a step back and said: ‘You’re too shy.’ Mr Benjamin Mendy said: ‘It’s fine. I’ve had sex with 10,000 women.’”

Source: Twitter Outlining the attempted rape charge, Aina said Mendy first met woman A, a British student, while in a nightclub in Barcelona in late 2017 and she became intimate with one of his friends. They kept in touch and a year later she arranged to visit Mendy’s friend at the footballer’s house, where they stayed after they all went with other young women for a night out. The morning after, when she took a shower in the en suite bathroom, Mendy appeared, uninvited, wearing just boxer shorts and holding himself, and he was “aroused”, the court heard. Mendy is alleged to have grabbed the woman and tried to rape her on the bed as she tried to struggle free and repeatedly told him to stop. Mendy told police that on both occasions any sexual contact was consensual and he denied any wrongdoing. The trial continues and is expected to last three weeks.

Source: Getty He was cleared of six counts of rape and one charge of sexual assault earlier this year after a five-month trial at Chester Crown Court but is set to face a retrial this month on one count of alleged rape and another of attempted rape. He has denied all charges and the retrial is set to begin on June 26. After almost two years without playing, Benjamin Mendy has disappeared from circulation at Manchester City. His contract was not terminated, however, and he remained a member of Pep Guardiola’s squad. This will change at the end of the month. Indeed, the player is coming to the end of his contract on June 30 and Manchester City has confirmed, unsurprisingly, that Benjamin Mendy’s contract will not be renewed. Without a club, the sporting future of Benjamin Mendy darkens a little more. At 28, the rest of his career is dotted. Beginning on June 26, his second trial will conclude around September 18. If the judgment is positive for Benjamin Mendy, it is still difficult to imagine the clubs jostling for the former Monaco and OM player, especially after so much time without competition.
