2023 Election results didn’t reflect the will of the people

GistReel

Presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), Omoyele Sowore, says the election results do not “reflect the will of the people”.

Sowore

His statement trails the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC‘s declaration of Tinubu as the winner of the 2023 presidential election. Yakubu said the APC standard bearer secured a total of 8,794,726 votes to win the election. Meanwhile, Sowore was only able to garner 14, 608 votes in the election.

Sowore

Speaking in his state of the nation address on Wednesday, Sowore said the 2023 presidential election. He insists that INEC’s failed to electronically transmit results to its portal.  “This particular election, by their own standard, did not meet any of the legal requirements that say every election result must be scanned and uploaded to the INEC server. But there is nothing new about it, before this election, I had said INEC wasn’t ready for this election,” he said. “We categorically condemn the election that was held on the 25th of February as a fraudulent election that didn’t meet the standard of what should be called a free, fair and credible election. There is nothing surprising about it. We knew that these criminals in our system have no interest in organising a free and fair election. What they did was a selection as they usually do, they have just given you the candidate of the choice of the criminal political elite in Nigeria. Any figures, either for me or against me or them or against them that you see during this election were concocted and manufactured fraudulently.”, Sowore noted.

Unai Emery reveals he ‘didn’t like’ Emi Martinez running up for late corner

GistReel

Aston Villa manager Unai Emery has criticised goalkeeper Emi Martinez for leaving his box to go up for a corner in Saturday’s clash against Arsenal. Unai Emery reveals he 'didn't like' Emi Martinez running up for late corner Aston Villa was 3-2 down when Martinez decided to go to Arsenal’s box to try to covert the corner kick. Arsenal was able to win possession and the subsequent counter-attack allowed Gabriel Martinelli to roll the ball into an open goal to secure a 4-2 win. Commenting on Martinez’s decision to go to the box, Emery said; Unai Emery reveals he 'didn't like' Emi Martinez running up for late corner “Our game plan is, of course, quality really and on the pitch they have to take the decision. He decided in the last action to go to the corner offensively, but I don’t like it. But I told him nothing, before or after because in all my career I have never told our goalkeepers to do it and the statistical data is going against the teams that are going with the goalkeeper more than scoring any goals.”

The £100 million Chelsea spent on Lukaku didn’t fix their problem

GistReel

Graham Potter has claimed that the money Chelsea spent to bring back Romelu Lukaku to Stamford Bridge, did little or nothing to fix their problem. The £100 million Chelsea spent on Lukaku didn't fix their problem - Potter Potter who was pointing out the need for the club to improve as a team after the huge amount spent during the January transfer window, stated that Lukaku’s mightily underwhelming performances after returning from Inter in 2021 should serve as a warning that splurging on a striker wouldn’t necessarily guarantee an improvement in the attack. He said; “I think we need to improve as a team. If you look back 18 months, from the outside Chelsea wasn’t scoring and they thought they’d spent close to £100 million on a centre-forward [Lukaku] and that would fix all their problems, and it didn’t. “You have to attack better as a team and that’s our challenge – that’s what we need to do. The £100 million Chelsea spent on Lukaku didn't fix their problem - Potter  “I’d be lying if I could say I could give you a timescale on it. Put it this way, if I could get a month for every time I’ve been asked that question, I’d be here for five years [laughs].” Chelsea spent a massive sum of money across the January and summer transfer windows on up-and-coming players such as Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk, but they have so far failed to remedy their goalscoring problems despite their £600m outlay. Their lack of an out-and-out No.9 was highlighted once again following the goalless draw with Fulham on Friday night, a game in which Kai Havertz was profligate, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was left out altogether.
