My administration experienced hostile handover ― Otti

My administration experienced hostile handover ― Otti

Dr. Alex Otti, Abia state governor, has narrated how his administration experienced a very hostile handover on May 29, 2023, when he took over governance from his predecessor, Okezie Ikpeazu. Otti, while inaugurating a judicial panel of inquiry to recover government properties and funds allegedly looted during previous administrations in the state, lamented that the situation made it difficult for him to hit the ground running.

My administration experienced hostile handover ― Otti

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti He stated this at Abia Government House, Umuahia while also claiming that he assumed office blindly and below ground zero, alleging that he had discovered that the reason for non-cooperation may have arisen from mischief from those who are in the custody of public properties and funds. He said; “Let me reveal that this administration experienced a very hostile handover situation which made it very difficult for us to hit the ground running on the 29th of May, as we had anticipated. We, therefore, assumed office blindly and had to start practically from below ground zero. We are now discovering that the reason for the lack of cooperation might have arisen from widespread mischief by some of those who were given custody of our collective assets and welfare.” “It gives me great pleasure to have you here today for the inauguration of this judicial panel of inquiry into the recovery of public assets. Ordinarily, the desire of this administration would have been to focus on the business of governance and the delivering of the dividend of democracy, without resorting to any form of inquiry into past deeds. Unfortunately, since our assumption of office, about a month ago, we have been inundated with complaints of unimaginable and large-scale malfeasance by very highly placed members of the past government and their patrons. We have also experienced unbridled looting and misuse of government properties and resources. Besides we have been experiencing difficulties in accessing government properties, which would usually be available to continue with the business of governance. “As at now, so many MDAs find it very difficult to perform their day-to-day duties. Even public schools were not spared as part of their lands have been converted to private use. “It is for the foregoing reasons that we came to the conclusion that it would amount to being insensitive and reckless and encouraging bad behaviour, if our administration did not listen to the yearnings of those who elected us, by looking into their complaints. “The government decided therefore to set up this Judicial Panel of Inquiry to ensure the recovery of government funds and properties.” He listed the terms of reference to the panel of inquiry to include;” To receive and examine complaints and memoranda from individuals and corporate entities on the looting and or conversion of Government Properties, funds and related matters and where necessary make recommendations to the government for remedial measures or any other measures as appropriate. “Examine and ascertain whether government moveable and immovable assets and funds or part of it has been illegally acquired, occupied, converted to private use and identify the persons responsibly and further make recommendations for recovery and appropriate sanctions. “Ascertain the extent of allocation and revocation of land in Abia State from May 2015 – May 2023 and determine the propriety of such allocation and revocation. Review the award and execution of contracts from May 2015 to May 2023 and ascertain if they were in conformity with extant laws. “To investigate any other matter incidental or related to the foregoing terms of reference and make recommendations to the government based on their findings.” The Governor further directed the panel to perform its work expeditiously and urged the public to support them with any information that will help in the recovery of looted government properties and funds. Otti also noted that the setting up of the panel should be a guide to officeholders that when they have served out their tenure, the same standards would be used to judge them and urged them not to be found wanting.

Why I’m glad Chioma Akpotha experienced what she went through at her polling unit

GistReel

Nollywood actress, Georgina Onuoha jests about her colleague, Chioma Akpotha‘s experience at her Polling unit yesterday.

Georgina Onuoha

Yesterday, while Chioma Akpotha was trying to cast her vote, her polling unit was invaded by political thugs, who attacked people and made away with ballot papers. She made a live video of her experience in tears. While many sympathized with Chioma, her colleague, Georgina reacted differently. In a rather lengthy post, Georgina insisted that she was glad that Chioma went through such an experience. According to her, the situation was a reminder of how she mocked others privately and minimized their sufferings. Furthermore, Chioma spoke of her Chioma tried to shut her up, while she shared videos of riots ongoing in different parts of the country during the 2019 elections. Nonetheless, Georgina wished Chioma safety and prays her vote counts. Chioma Akpotha Georgina wrote: “PLEASE READ THE WHOLE WRITE UP. I know many may wonder why I am posting this now or speaking about it now after four years. Well today’s situation was a reminder of how she mocked others privately and minimized their sufferings. But she felt the need to scream today because she was directly affected.
You do not only show bravery or compassion or empathy only when it affects you directly. So this is Chioma screaming at the top of her lungs 🫁 😂😂. I hope she is safe. I wish her well and I pray her vote counts.
That being said this same Person Chioma had the temerity 4 years ago to tell me that my post will create riots and that the election was safe and free. Meanwhile, Monalisa @monalisacode posted videos of people being killed in her hometown of Rivers State and was calling on security agents to intervene.
There were various videos of thugs attacking people and carting away ballot boxes. If you all remember vividly, one thug in Okota was almost killed by voters in Lagos when he tried snatching ballots.
While I was posting those updates, Chioma Chukwu felt the need to tell me to stop. That I have a brand to protect and that I should say the election was peaceful. She will never forget my responses to her and she unfollowed me and I blocked her as well. It is incumbent to end friendships with people who lack or sell their integrity and dignity for a few personal gains, I cut you off.
Many of our celebrities are compromised. They are all about their brands and stomach infrastructure.
Fast forward today, here she is shouting like a cow for her safety. And I bet the last four years have not favored her hence the change of heart.
I am glad she had this experience today but came out safe. I wish her well and I hope she learns from this experience that you can not be in bed with the devil and have the moral authority to call it out.
When you see injustice in society, Call it out. Don’t sugar quote it. Don’t only scream when it affects you directly. Scream when it affects others as well.
So Chioma I forgive your ineptitude of 4 years ago and I wish you well. Incase you can’t see this I hope someone delivers this message to you. Georgina Onuoha” See post below;
