Incumbent Senator, Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe defeated Governor Ben Ayade in the National Assembly elections held on Saturday in Cross River North. Ayade, who previously served in the Senate from 2011 to 2015, garnered 56,595 votes while Agom-Jarigbe, a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), received 76,145 votes. The Independent National Electoral Commission INEC‘s returning officer, Dr. Emmanuel Emanghe, declared the results of the polls at around 3:05 a.m. on Monday 27th February 2023. As he concludes his second term as Governor of Cross River State, Ayade competed for the position of Senator representing the Northern senatorial district of the state, attempting to unseat Agom-Jarigbe which failed.
Abia speaker loses House of Reps election to Labour Party candidate
Chinedum Orji, Speaker of Abia House of Assembly has lost the House of Representatives election for Ikwuano/Umuahia North/Umuahia South Federal Constituency to a Labour Party candidate.
Orji, who is the son of the former Governor Theodore Orji, contested on the platform of Peoples Democratic Party, but lost to the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Obi Aguocha. The Returning Officer, Uma Oke, said the LP candidate polled 48,199 votes to defeat Mr Orji of the PDP, who scored 35,196.
Ogbonnaya Obilor of APC had 4,042 votes, while Ogbonna Abariukwu of APGA got 2,758. Obinna Nwosu of ADC scored 2386, while Friday Chimaobi of YPP polled 1013 votes. Patience Okorie of NNPP got 644 votes; Christian Ibekwe Christian of NRM got 68 and Nnamdi Ogbuagu of APP scored 347.
Governor Ugwuanyi loses senatorial election to Labour Party
Governor Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu State has lost his senatorial bid to the Labour Party (LP) candidate for the district, Okechukwu Ezea. Ugwuanyi, a Governor elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who is rounding off his second term, contested in the Enugu North Senatorial District election held on Saturday 25 February. Returning Officer for the election, Chukwuemeka Ubaka, announced the result at the collation centre of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Nsukka Local Government Area headquarters on Monday at about 5: 20 a.m.
Mr Ezea, the Labour Party candidate, polled a total of 104,492 votes to defeat Mr Ugwuanyi of the PDP, who came second with 46,948 votes. The All Progressives Congress candidate for the district, Ejike Eze, garnered 6,816 votes to come a distant third.
APC Abdullahi Adamu loses senatorial seat to SDP
The National Chairman of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu has lost his seat in Nasarawa Western Zone to an SDP candidate.
According to reports, Adamu lost his seat to Ahmed Wadada of the Social Democratic Party in the National Assembly elections held on Saturday. The INEC returning agent for Nasawara Baba while declaring the winner said Ahmed Wadada of SDP pulled 98,488 votes while Adamu of the APC also pulled 47,717 votes. Also, the PDP candidate also pulled 46,820 while the Labour party pulled 33,228. Aside from the seat lost in the Nasarawa West, the APC also lost the Keffi/Kokona/Karu seat to the SDP with Gaza Gwefwi retaining his seat. SDP pulled 60,265 votes, the APC also pulled 28,417 votes, the LP, 29655, and the PDP 33,180 for the house of representatives elections.
Banky W loses house of representatives election to Labour Party candidate
Candidate of Labour Party, Thaddeus Attah, has defeated music star and candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Banky W, to clinch Eti-Osa Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Labour Party’s Attah polled 24,075 votes, beating his counterparts, Olubankole Wellington (Banky W) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who had 18,666 votes, and Babajide Obanikoro of the APC, who had 16, 901 votes. Babajide, who is a son of former Minister of Defence, Musiliu Obanikoro, is the current lawmaker representing the constituency.
Attah was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission Returning Officer, Prof Funmilayo Odukoya on Sunday, February 26, at the Collation Centre, Lagos State Model Nursery and Primary School, Marwa, Lekki.
Tinubu’s campaign Director loses polling unit to Peter Obi
Plateau State Governor and Director General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Simon Lalong, loses his polling unit to the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi.
The Plateau state Governor voted at Polling Unit 015, Kurumbo ward B in Shendam Local Government Area. After the votes were counted yesterday, February 25, Sowan Paul, the INEC presiding officer in the unit, announced that Labour Presidential candidate, Peter Obi scored 104 votes, APC scored 88 votes and PDP scored 8 votes in the presidential election.
However, the APC won the senatorial and House of Representatives election in the unit. Governor Lalong is contesting for the senatorial seat in the district on the platform of the APC.

Veteran Nollywood actress Maureen Okpoko has cried out for help as she discloses that she has lost her sight.
In a video that has gone viral, the actress Maureen Opoko has pleaded with Nigerians to come to her aid as she needs urgent medical attention or loses her sight completely. The actress further disclosed that it’s been very difficult living with blurred vision and is pleading to everyone to help her with money to treat the vision impairment and blindness. Her words; “I suddenly lost my sight, which means I can no longer see or I can’t see for now. I’m seeking for your financial assistance, it would be greatly appreciated if y’all can come to my aid. There was pandemonium at Shopright, Owerri after a man played a proposal prank on his girlfriend friend on Valentine’s Day.
It’s February 14th, valentines and lots of lovers expect gifts or nice treats from their partners. However, the reverse was the case after a public proposal went south. According to a video making the rounds on social media, the man thought to pull a proposal prank on his girlfriend, who didn’t take it so likely. From her reaction, she felt embarrassed and sad as to why her lover would plan such in front of many onlookers. Popular Nigerian Actress cum politician Funke Akindele has reportedly lost her mother Dr. RB Adebanjo–Akindele to death, a few hours ago.
The sad news was shared by the elder sister, Olubunmi Akindele of the actress Funke Akindele on her social media page. Sharing the heart-wrenching news, Funke’s sister wrote; “It is with heavy hearts, but in total submission to God Almighty that the ADEBANJO and AKINDELE families announce the passing of their daughter, mother, grandmother, and sister, DR. R B ADEBANJO-Akindele, which occurred on Tuesday 07 February 2023. “May her gentle soul begin its rest eternal in peace Amen. Obsequies in honour of her passing shall be announced in due course.”
