Hilda Baci, the renowned Nigerian chef also known as Hilda Effiong Bassey, shared details on how long it took to decide the attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking time. During an interview with TVC on Thursday, she revealed that five years ago, she had contemplated setting the record, but circumstances weren’t favourable at that time.
Hilda Baci continued to postpone it until 2023 when all lights were green and triumphed with over 100 hours setting a new record. In her words; “I thought about it five years ago, but then it wasn’t the right time. “I still had to go on a journey of self-discovery as well before I got to this point where I could confidently say, ‘oh I am ready to do this. I can afford to pay for it and I have the right team that will come together to make it happen’.” Watch the video below …
Another Nigerian lady has kick-started her journey to break the Guinness World Record as she begins the counting of rice grains on her Instagram live. The lady began counting rice grains just a day after Hilda Baci broke the record for the longest cooking marathon. Hilda Baci has indeed set a pace as most Nigerians are currently looking for a world record to break. In the late hours of yesterday, Hilda Baci hit the set target of cooking non-stop for 96 hours. However, after the 96th hour, the determined young lady added an extra 4 hour to hit a 100 hour cooking marathon. Her 100 hour cooking marathon which broke the record of the India Chef who cooked for 87 hours 45 minutes has been recognized by Guinness World Records who have shared on their story the historic cooking stint of Hilda Baci. However, Guinness World Records are yet to officially announce the new record of Hilda Baci. According to them, they will have to review all the evidence first before officially confirming the record. However, Nigerians seem not to be content with the response of Guinness World Records as they storm their official page to drag the institution. In a video, Hilda’s mother expressed gratitude for the support they received, recalling past struggles when they could only afford a one-room apartment in Abuja.
