Dino Melaye, candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the November 11 Kogi governorship poll, says he would run an inclusive government if elected into office. In a statement released on Saturday by Melaye’s media team, the PDP candidate spoke during a visit to the palace of Abdulrazaq Isa Koto, Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfi.

Dino Melaye: "I’ll run Kogi with fear of God"

The former senator representing Kogi West said he would run the state with “fear of God” if elected. Melaye added that he would be “a governor for all” regardless of ethnic group. “As you are aware, His Royal Majesty, in the space of 4 years as senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I did 19 projects in your Kogi LGA. I have a very special relationship with Kogi and by the grace of God, when elected as governor, I will focus attention on the needs of our people, particularly the ecological challenges in this area,” the PDP candidate said. “We are not unaware that the major business in this area is agriculture, trading and transportation. We shall make these ventures the focus of our administration by providing incentives that will encourage our people. “I will be a Kogi governor that will govern our state with the fear of God. I will run an all-inclusive governance not as an Igala, Ebira, Okun, Kakanda, Bassa, Koto or Nupe governor but as a governor for all under the guidance of the Almighty God. “I congratulate you as the leader of the Kogi west traditional rulers and I pray that under your leadership, Kogi West will produce a governor. I, therefore, seek your blessings as we go into the polls.” On April 16, Melaye won the PDP primary for the Kogi gubernatorial election, defeating Idoko Ilonah, his closest challenger, by 189 votes. He will face Ahmed Ododo, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in the governorship election scheduled to take place on November 11.

I don’t fear death, I can sacrifice my life for justice

I don’t fear death, I can sacrifice my life for justice

Nigerian hip-pop artist Falz has shared the  reason why he sings controversial songs while addressing sensitive topics. Falz Recall that Falz dropped a song and called out INEC, its chairman and other political parties over the recent general elections conduct. He accused them for allegedly involved in the electoral malpractices in the just-concluded general elections. He emphasized that he is not scared to die by speaking the truth hence the type of lyrics he uses for his songs. Speaking about why he released a controversial song like that, Falz in an interview with Arise Tv said that he would rather go down fighting for justice than to remain silent and die from the failed system of the country. He said, “I knew that was going to come up when you announced that I was doing this from London. Like I said earlier on, this is not the first time, this is not the second time, this is not the third time. “I have released tons of records that are very confrontational. And I was on ground. I’m always on ground when I released these records. “It is not to say that I’m running anywhere. Absolutely not. Everyone know where to find me. If anyone wants to find me. But I have no reason to fear anything. And I always say this when people ask me ‘how do you do these things without any fear of consequences?’ “And this is the same answer that I always give: the kind of life we are living already is one which we are more or less fading away already. It’s not a meaningful life what we have in Nigeria as a country. “What’s the worst that could happen? It’s death. I don’t fear death. I would rather go down fighting for a just cause. I would rather be remembered as someone that lived a life that was meaningful rather than someone that for example was walking down the road and got run over by a danfo [bus] because he was driving recklessly. “Or, someone that got a heart disease and could not save himself because there are no hospitals capable of saving him in Nigeria,” Falz added.

The male and female contestants have been divided into two tribes by Big Brother, and communication can only be made through a mediator appointed by each gender, specifically Yaya and Miracle. The men can only communicate with other men, while the women can only communicate with other women. Additionally, the plot twist only allows them to speak a limited number of times each day in designated areas for a duration decided by Biggie. Any form of communication, including body language, is prohibited by Big Brother. This rule also applies to group tasks, including Friday game nights. While they may still use the communal areas, the housemates are “encouraged” to stay away from each other and find ways to avoid accidental communication. In the event of an urgent need to communicate, they can use the yellow zone. The groups can use a representative to communicate in this zone, but only a limited number of times per day, as indicated by the displayed numbers. Therefore, they must use their discretion to determine when it’s necessary to communicate.
