Scotland’s first openly gay footballer Zander Murray speaks up against homophobic abuse

Zander Murray, Scotland’s first openly gay footballer has opened up on the “horrendous” homophobic abuse he received on social media just hours before the release of his upcoming documentary.

Murray teamed up with the BBC for a new documentary to assess what more needs to be done to tackle homophobia in football, after coming out as gay in September 2022. The Scottish League Two side Bonnyrigg Rose player who reacted to a derogatory message he got underneath a post he shared applauding a young football fan, wrote;

Czech Republic and Sparta Prague star Jakub Jankto comes out as gay

Czech Republic midfielder Jakub Jankto “no longer wants to hide” as he becomes the first current men’s international footballer to publicly come out as gay. The footballer who plays for Sparta Prague on loan from Getafe, posted a video on social media on Monday, February 13, saying he is gay, making him one of the most high-profile male soccer players to come out. Jankto said in the video; “Hi, I’m Jakub Jankto. Like everybody else, I have my strengths, I have my weaknesses. I have a family, I have my friends. I have a job, which I have been doing as best as I can for years, with seriousness, professionalism, and passion. “Like everybody else, I also want to live my life in freedom, without fears, without prejudice, without violence, but with love. Nothing else matters.” The Premier League replied to Jankto’s tweet, saying: “We’re with you, Jakub. Football is for everyone.” The Professional Footballers’ Association added: “Well said, Jakub. We’re all with you!”, while players’ organisation FIFPRO said: “Live your life, Jakub. Proud.” 27-year-old Jankto previously played for Italian clubs Sampdoria and Udinese and has made 45 appearances for the Czech national team, scoring four goals and setting up 13 more. He’s now the first La Liga player to come out as homosexual, and follows in the footsteps of Adelaide United star Josh Cavallo and Blackpool youth striker Jake Daniels as one of the few openly gay players in the men’s game.

Famous fashion designer, Yomi Casual, rains curses on naysayers as he addresses the rumour trailing his sexuality as a gay man.

This comes barely 24 hours after his wife dared those behind the rumour to provide proof other than spreading falsehoods. In a recent post via the Instagram page of Yomi Casual, he emphasized being tired of keeping quiet. In a lengthy note, AY Makun’s brother wished death on anyone and those behind the rumour of his being gay. Yomi wrote in a post; “It is always easy for friends and family to reach out and always say, “Ignore them… Silence is golden… they will get tired and move on to the next person.” But I am the one wearing the shoes, and I am the one feeling all pains and damages to my reputation as a father, husband, and businessman. Coming out of church today and having reflected on all the lies against me. I want to say I am not too good a Christian who would turn and take a slap on the other cheek. Enough is enough. Should I Omoniyi, Olorunyomi Makun be gay or nurse any single idea of sleeping with a fellow man, may death take me before my time, may everything that God has blessed me with be taken away from me. May I not prosper in anything I lay my hands to do. May failure become my portion in everything that concerns me till death. Popular stand-up comedian, AY Makun, reacts to reports that his brother, Omoniyi Makun alias Yomi Casual, is gay.

This comes after Yomi Casual’s wife penned a lengthy note addressing the rumour where she dared those peddling the false news to provide proof. In a follow-up comment, AY Makun expressed concerns about the defamation targeted at his family while assuring Yomi’s wife of getting to the root of it.

Grace Makun, the wife of the celebrity fashion designer, Yomi Casual, dares those behind rumours of her husband being gay to provide proof.

In a lengthy note via Instagram, Grace fumed at the unending disrespect she gets from people who spread false claims about her husband. She pressed on to emphasize the misinformation on the extra care taken by Yomi Casual to look good as opposed to being gay. A Lagos-based gay man has claimed that Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, is a member of their community in Lagos State.
Recall that, allegations about the actor’s sexuality came up after his ex-fiancee, Fancy Acholonu revealed that the movie star didn’t sleep with her for 5 years.

She also claimed that after they finally got intimate, the actor’s performance was very poor.
In a recent development, an audio from a gay man in Lagos speaking on Alexx Ekubo’s membership in the gay community has gone viral.
The man said:
“Even my community here is Lagos have a problem with Alexx, I mean dude we know about you, you’re in our community, we know who you dated, we know your ex, we have seen you in our get-togethers.

American rapper, Montero Lamar Hill, known by his stage name Lil Nas X, has informed his fans that he has quit being a gay after losing in every category he was nominated in at the 2022 Grammy Awards.

The outspoken “Industry Baby” singer, took to his official Twitter page to make the information public.
