Why we stormed Seun Kuti’s home – Police
The Lagos State Police Command has given a reason why they stormed the Akin Osiyemi residence of Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti. On Tuesday, some police officers stormed the house of afrobeat musician Seun Kuti, off Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Lagos for a search.
An eyewitness told PUNCH in an interview that the police officers took along the phone of Seun Kuti’s wife after the search. “The police officers invaded Seun’s home here on my street, Akin Osiyemi, and he was in the vehicle with them while in handcuffs. They stormed and searched his apartment. But they also seized his wife’s phone before driving off with Seun Kuti”, the eyewitness said. Disclosing why the house of Seun Kuti was raided, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, said the command obtained a warrant to search Seun Kuti’s residence. He disclosed that it was also part of the process for their ongoing investigations. “It’s part of our ongoing investigations. We were investigating assault, we stumbled on some things we needed to verify. We got a duly issued search warrant, which we executed,” Hundeyin told PUNCH.
Funke Akindele announces home release of movie, Battle on Buka Street, for fans
Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, known for her box office record-breaking movies, has announced that her latest film, Battle on Buka Street, will soon be available for viewers who cannot watch it in cinemas. The mother of two took to her Instagram stories to share a clip from the movie, revealing that she would be bringing it to fans’ homes soon.
Akindele, however, did not disclose the date, timing, or platform for the release of the film. Earlier this week, it was reported that Battle on Buka Street has broken the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.
The film has grossed 640 million naira, beating Akindele’s 2020 movie, Omo Ghetto the Saga, which grossed 636 million naira. Commenting on the achievement, FilmOne, the distribution company for the movie, posted on Instagram; “If the only competition you have is yourself was a person, it is clearly @funkejenifaakindele. What a Woman! What a Movement! What a Movie! What an Achievement!” In response, Akindele expressed her appreciation, saying; “Thank you Nigeria, we definitely couldn’t have done this without you. A young lady laments the struggle faced on her newly acquired sim card, particularly from a caller who keeps pleading with her to come home. A video making the rounds on social media captured the bitter experience of a new sim card user who was sold an already line.
According to the lady, from the first day of the sim purchase, multiple calls from different people would not let her rest. The worst of them all was from an individual who may have been the ex-boyfriend of the first owner of the phone number. “This particularly man e be like say na ex. Baba just dey call dey call. Nigerian singer and songwriter Oxlade has recounted how he sold tickets and food as a source of living after running away from home. According to Oxlade, he run away from home to pursue his music career and had to sell bus tickets—a job of motor park touts, popularly called “agbero.” During an interview, Oxlade disclosed that his father who is a lecturer at a university never supported his music career. He said: “Honestly, he [my dad] was indifferent at first. But my stubbornness and consistency paid off [laughs]. “I ran away from the house at some point in my life to pursue music personally. And I had to do all sorts of stuff to survive.
