While many have their preferred candidate, street singer, Naira Marley is getting knocks for supporting the All Progressive People’s Party, APC. A viral clip of the street act performing one of his most famous songs at the ongoing APC rally has set tongues wagging. Tweets seen on the micro-blogging platform capture the reaction of users who have expressed their displeasure over the recent development. Some Tweets have been seen with Naira Marley’s name and a cancel sign accompanying it.

Lagos govt shuts Chrisland School over Whitney Adeniran’s death

The Lagos State government orders the closure of Chrisland School in Opebi, Ikeja, following the death of a 12-year-old student, Whitney Adeniran. This comes amidst the allegations that Whitney Adeniran was electrocuted other than claims that she slumped and died during the school’s inter-house sports. In a statement released to the press on Sunday, February 12, 2023, the Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo, said the school would remain shut pending the outcome of a full investigation.

The commissioner expressed condolences to the loved ones and acquaintances of the deceased and offered prayers for her soul to rest in peace. However, he urged for calm and guaranteed that a thorough investigation into the matter would be conducted without any compromise. “No effort will be spared in investigating the incident,” the Commissioner for Education, Folasade Adefisayo stated.

A teenager identified as Yusuf Alami shares his reasoning for standing in front of Peter Obi‘s convoy during a campaign in Lagos.

During the Labour Party’s rally in Lagos State on Saturday, Alami was captured in a photograph that quickly spread on social media. The picture shows him with his arms outstretched in front of a Toyota Prado SUV, while Peter Obi, the party’s presidential candidate, was seen standing through the sunroof of the vehicle and smiling at the teenager. Alami revealed in an interview that he stood in front of Peter Obi’s convoy due to his affection for the candidate.

Alami, a resident of Lagos who hails from Ibadan, stated that he admires Obi for his helpfulness and has a strong fondness for him. He also expressed that if Obi were to win the election, he would pray for his success. The presidential campaign of Peter Obi was rounded up in the rally held at the Tafawa Balewa Square on Lagos Island on Saturday, after travelling to each of the 36 states in the federation. The rally was attended by Obi’s running mate, Datti Baba-Amed, as well as the leader of the Yoruba socio-political organization Afenifere, Pa Ayo Adebanjo, among others.

A heartbroken Nigerian mother cries out after her daughter slumped and died with claims of Cardiac arrest by her school in Lagos.

In a tearful viral video on social media, Mrs Blessing Adeniran said her daughter, Desola Whitney Adeniran attended her school, Chrisland school, Opebi’s inter-house sports, last Thursday, 9th of February. She snorted that she was present at the event but could not find her daughter, who belonged to palm house. Mrs Adeduran later learnt that her daughter had fainted. According to her, nobody called or mentioned what had happened to her daughter, Whitney. Mrs Adeniran said the staff mentioned to her that Whitney had been rushed to the hospital. On getting to the hospital where her daughter was rushed, she met her corpse there. The distraught mother mentioned that the school claims her 12-year-old daughter had suffered a cardiac arrest and slumped. She insists her baby girl was not sick and never had any pre-existing heart condition and wonders why she would suffer a cardiac arrest. However, however, I demand that the school present a concise explanation of what happened to her child so that she can bury her child in peace. Watch the detailed video below;

At the Labour Party’s grand finale campaign rally in Lagos on Saturday, February 11, 2023, the Vice Presidential candidate, Datti Baba-Ahmed, slammed the opposition parties, ‘PDAPC‘.

Datti was fiery as he spoke to the crowd of supporters who gathered at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) on Lagos Island. He exclaimed, “PDAPC dey craze” while addressing the enthusiastic crowd. The rally was attended by important figures such as the party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, National Chairman Julius Abure, the Director General of the Obi/Datti campaign council, Prof Akin Osuntokun, Afenifere leader Pa Ayo Adebanjo, and others. Datti, known for his calm demeanour, was fueled by the energy of the crowd as he used a phrase from one of Nigeria’s musical legends, Fela Anikulapo Kuti, in pidgin English to emphasize his points.

“Fela talk say dem dash us democracy, dem teach us dem go, no be so?,” Datti asked the crowd of supporters. He went on to say that being a democratic nation does not mean that citizens in Nigeria are unaware of their rights. Datti’s words: “The fact say we get democracy no mean say we craze. Whoever thinks say we craze, na hin craze. PDAPC na dem craze. “Anybody wey come stand in front of you talk say dey improve the security of Nigeria, wetin happen to that person, tell dem dey craze….” The Vice Presidential candidate emphasized their plan, to guide Nigeria towards greatness and pointed out that the Labour Party has brought the nation together, ending previous conflicts among the population. Datti’s words: “Only Obi and my humble self are ready to lead Nigeria to greatness. Fellow Nigerians, Nigeria is that great country on the surface of the earth that bad governance has denied progress and we have to change it. ‘Labour Party is that party that has stopped Nigerians from fighting themselves and has united Nigerians.”

Labour Party supporters attacked, many severely injured in Lagos (Video)

Multiple supporters of the Labour Party were attacked by hoodlums on their way to Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS) for the party’s rally in Lagos.

It was earlier reported that tweeps had suspected an unusual activity on the Third Mainland Bridge where a faulty bus was allegedly planted to affect traffic and dissuade people from turning out for the event.

A video uploaded by Channels TV on Twitter has shown that supporters who had gone for the rally – which Peter Obi had appeared at – were attacked while making their way to TBS where the rally held.

Some victims had been attacked by machete welding ruffians, and they could be seen receiving medical treatment from health personnel on the scene. Bus allegedly planted to cause traffic and dissuade people from turning out for rally in Lagos

Viral reports on Twitter allege that a faulty bus was planted on Third Mainland Bridge, Lagos to cause traffic and supposedly discourage residents from turning out en mass for rally.

The Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi is expected to make an appearance in the metropolitan area for his campaign. However, prior to the time, various Twitter users have taken to the micro blogging platform to report an incident which they have alleged to be a deliberate attempt to cause traffic. One tweep raised alarm saying; “They made it look like the bus was faulty and planted it overnight to cause traffic at 3MB to discourage people from attending the LP rally.. Lastma officials there said they were warned not to touch it..” Another tweep wrote: “This is fking hilarious 😂…. At the foot of third mainland bridge they’ve blocked half of the exit and there are agbero boys sitting close to the bus with bottles of beer. Guess what? Popular singer YhemoLee reveals that a certain Nigerian big boy is owing various nightclubs in Lagos 143 million naira.

The socialite, who recently got into an online drama with skit-maker Carter Efe, divulged this while speaking on the TeaWithTay podcast. YhemoLee, who didn’t mention the person’s name, said that the individual owes different nightclubs an outrageous debt. He added that the individual doesn’t try to hide from his creditors but still goes out every night to different clubs to flex his life and when he has a loose 20 million, he uses it to settle some of the debts. Nine dead, one rescued as container falls on a bus in Lagos (Video)

On Sunday, January 29th, nine people were killed in Lagos State when a container fell on a bus at the Ojuelegba bridge.

The bus was reportedly carrying a full load of passengers and nine fatalities were confirmed at the scene. An eyewitness reported that the trailer was trying to prevent the bus from passing when the accident occurred. The Director-General of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu who confirmed the incident in a statement noted that an adult female was rescued alive.

“Upon arrival at the scene, a truck conveying a 20ft container was found to have landed on top of a commercial bus. “Further investigations revealed that the bus was picking up passengers when the truck lost control and fell over the side of the bridge. “After suspending the container load with the aid of the Agency’s forklift and cutting off the top of the bus with light rescue equipment, a single adult woman was extricated alive and taken to the trauma centre. “Final casualty count is 9 fatalities comprising, 4 adult males, 3 adult females,1 boy child and 1 girl child and 1 adult female rescued alive. “The Agency’s heavy-duty Goliath and teams from Onipan and Cappa are on ground. The Agency’s Ambulance, LASG FIRE, FED FIRE, LASTMA and Nigeria Police have been working on this situation which is now concluded. “Further investigation to be carried out by the Nigeria Police on the removal of the barriers on the bridge aimed at preventing trucks from ascending,” the statement said.
