His primary reason for this decision is the city’s perceived lack of safety and its potential negative impact on his mental well-being. Instead, he expresses a preference for residing in Abuja, a city known for its relaxed and tranquil environment, where he enjoys a considerable level of recognition. In his words; “Let’s say a fish pond has 10 fishes in Lagos and there are a hundred fishermen; in Abuja, there are 10 fishes and there are five fishermen, if you are a fisherman, where would you go and cast your nets? “With the help of the internet, you can connect anybody. Now I’m in Lagos here na, I’m in Echoo Room na. I came from Abuja, I can go back tomorrow. It’s just funds. “I’ll come here but to stay here and dabble in that pond, is not safe. It’s not safe for my brand. It’s not safe for my mental space. It’s not safe for my bank accounts. Because, if Wizkid dey do show, before him call me, he go first call Joeboy, Blaqbonez, Fireboy, Oxlade, Buju, Omah Lay. I can keep going on and on, before they get to Odumodu. “But where we are in Abuja, if Skepta should come, if they don call three artists, dem no call me then dem never call any artist.”

Source: Instagram According to a family source, “She started working at KFC barely two months ago. On Friday last week, she was said to had slumped at about 11 PM. KFC claimed she just screamed and fell while trying to hang her washed clothes. According to them, they rushed her to the hospital, but the first hospital rejected her because of deposit, it was the second hospital that they took her to that pronounced her dead on arrival. KFC took her body to the morgue without informing her family. And as we speak, they are yet to show the family where they dumped her body. Even the police has refused to tell the family where the body is. We think they are trying to cover up something. We don’t think she fell just like that. KFC claimed she just screamed and fell but they didn’t call her family who lives near by. They took her to the hospital and still didn’t inform her people. She died and they took her body to the mortuary without informing her family. They ran to Festac police to make an entry without informing the family still. It was the police that later called the family on Saturday afternoon, telling her mom to come to the station that her daughter had issues at work. Only for the woman to get there and they just reluctantly told her that her daughter was dead. She wasn’t sick. In fact, she was very fine and healthy. We think it was electrocution (our assumption) because there was a statement a policeman made to the elder brother. He said and I quote: ‘oh, na you wey electric shock your sister for Festac.’ She was the only daughter of her family. She started working at KFC after she dropped out of nursing school.”

According to reports, the unfortunate incident took place on Saturday in the Makoko area of Yaba, Lagos State, while the teenager was attempting to escape from a barking dog within the compound.   Reports indicate that Taiye was en route to the toilet situated on the premises when the dog’s aggressive barking startled her. Frightened by the dog’s behaviour, she instinctively tried to flee, seeking safety away from the dog’s vicinity. During her escape, it is reported that the girl accidentally came into contact with the outdoor unit of an air conditioner, leading to electrocution. Taiye was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was tragically pronounced dead. The incident caused distress among the house residents and their neighbours. The matter was subsequently reported to the Sabo Police Station for further investigation. The young girl was laid to rest following Islamic rites, as per the customs and traditions observed by her family. The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, Superintendent Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the incident in a statement. “Information has it that a dog was barking at her (the deceased) while she was going to the toilet and when she tried to escape from the dog, her hand mistakenly touched the window unit air conditioner which electrocuted her. “The DPO led the patrol team and detectives to the scene, but the deceased was already rushed to the hospital where she gave up the ghost,” he said.

Peter Obi reacts to demolition of buildings in Lagos by govt

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, LP, has condemned the recent demolition of some buildings in Lagos State and other parts of the country by the government, saying that Nigerian citizens should not be subjected to the additional stress of unexpected hardship. Obi who expressed his displeasure via his verified Twitter handle on Tuesday, agreed that some of the demolitions might be excusable but had left many victims, mostly ordinary people, who are either innocently ill-informed or misguided.

Peter Obi reacts to demolition of buildings in Lagos by govt

Peter Obi Obi said the primary duty of any government is to care for and protect its citizens. The former Anambra State governor advised that “necessary corrective measures to planning or zoning violations by governments, need not be punitive or unduly insensitive.” He stated, “In Nigeria, we live in a time of extreme difficulties for citizens because of stagnated income, spiralling inflation, huge unemployment escalating socio-economic costs and high costs of living. “Nigerian citizens should, therefore, not be subjected to the additional stress of unexpected hardship. Moreover, the various concerned governments should consider paying compensation to those who have lost properties and livelihoods in these unfortunate demolitions to ameliorate their suffering. Such compensation should fall under the rubric of eminent domain that is applicable to properties and assets acquired or demolished in the public interest. “It cannot ever be overemphasized that the primary duty of any government is the responsibility to care for and protect her citizens.” Recall that the Lagos Government had on June 16 begun the removal of what it described as distressed buildings in the Alaba International Market located in the Ojo Local Government Area of the state. The enforcement team of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, LASBCA and the Lagos State Task Force embarked on the joint exercise. Following the controversy that trailed the exercise, the government insisted that the exercise was a measure to prevent disaster. However, Obi maintained that Nigerian citizens should not be subjected to the additional stress of unexpected hardship. The statement reads, “Recently, there have been reports of widespread government demolition of so-called ‘illegal’ structures erected by some innocent Nigerian citizens in error. “We face a paradox: with a 70 million housing deficit and vast unmet housing needs nationwide, some resort to self-help by building structures that serve as homes, businesses, SMEs offices and stores. “Invariably, some of these structures were either not approved or were built with the tacit collusion or approval of the local authorities. “While some of these ongoing demolitions may be excusable, they have nonetheless, left many victims, mostly ordinary people who erred innocently or were ill-informed or misguided. Necessary corrective measures to planning or zoning violations by governments need not be punitive or unduly insensitive. “There should always be room for compassion and humane correction in taking any remedial action. I respectfully appeal to various governmental authorities to marry the need to enforce compliance with extant regulatory regimes, with consideration for human feelings and necessary compassion.”
