Destiny Etiko exposes Ruby Ojiakor’s price for movie role

In a dirty online fight, actress Destiny Etiko has shared the amount her colleague Ruby Ojiakor charges for movie roles. Destiny claimed in a video shared on her Facebook page that she paid Ruby N700K to appear in one of her movies.

Destiny said ever since she paid the money, Ruby has not been available and has refused to return the money to her account after a breached contract. Ruby in her response threatened to physically harm Destiny instead of seeking ways to make up for the disappointment. A furious Destiny responded by sharing her location and daring Ruby to turn up and confront her. She warned that she would physically harm Ruby if she showed up at the location. In her video’s caption, Destiny accused Ruby of trying to gain more popularity by using her. She wrote: “Ruby Orjiakor or whatever your name is… It’s quite obvious you are looking for someone to trend with Mrs CLOUTINA. I dey fear you? Who you be? I no sabi talk too much. If you make me vex na one slap I go knack you for face you go turn red. Ruby you charged me and you didn’t remove 1 naira. You see why I don’t have time for colleagues? Ruby you be unripe pawpaw”. Funke Akindele announces home release of movie, Battle on Buka Street, for fans

Nollywood actress Funke Akindele, known for her box office record-breaking movies, has announced that her latest film, Battle on Buka Street, will soon be available for viewers who cannot watch it in cinemas. The mother of two took to her Instagram stories to share a clip from the movie, revealing that she would be bringing it to fans’ homes soon.

Akindele, however, did not disclose the date, timing, or platform for the release of the film. Earlier this week, it was reported that Battle on Buka Street has broken the record for the highest-grossing Nollywood movie of all time.

The film has grossed 640 million naira, beating Akindele’s 2020 movie, Omo Ghetto the Saga, which grossed 636 million naira. Commenting on the achievement, FilmOne, the distribution company for the movie, posted on Instagram; “If the only competition you have is yourself was a person, it is clearly @funkejenifaakindele. What a Woman! What a Movement! What a Movie! What an Achievement!” In response, Akindele expressed her appreciation, saying; “Thank you Nigeria, we definitely couldn’t have done this without you. Jim Iyke expresses regrets after yelling and making Ini Edo cry on movie set (Video)

Famous Nollywood actor, Jim Iyke reveals that he recently directed a movie in which he regrets making Ini Edo cry after yelling at her. Jim affirmed that he was forced to take such action following the poor performance of his colleague while he directed the movie.

He further revealed that he considers Ini Edo to be a gentle and sensitive individual, and expressed his admiration for her. In their reunion video, Jim Iyke on his Instagram page, shared details about the movie production.

Expressing regrets for his actions, he said in the video; “Listen I was doing my thing, directing this scene and one of my favorite people in the whole world wasn’t acting right and I had to yell at her. Veteran Nollywood actress, Etinosa Idemudia has once again praised reality TV star, Phyna, for her remarkable acting skills.

Phyna, who recently emerged as the winner of the reality TV show, BBNaija is currently working alongside Etinosa on the set of her upcoming movie, Osato. The film’s title, which is a Benin name, suggests that it has indigenous roots, making it no surprise that both actresses, who are from Edo state, were cast in it.

Lagos Gov’t trashes ’Gangs of Lagos’ movie

The Lagos Government has berated the promoters and marketers of the movie “Gangs of Lagos” describing it as mocking Lagos’ cultural heritage.

The Lagos Government in a statement released on their site says that the movie “Gangs of Lagos” has portrayed a misrepresentation of the Lagos culture and also displays the culture of Lagos State in a derogatory manner. The statement reads; “A release signed by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Pharm. (Mrs.) Uzamat Akinbile-Yussuf said the Ministry, being the regulatory body and custodian of the culture of Lagos State, views the film/series as a mockery of the Heritage of Lagos. “The Commissioner expressed her disappointment with the promoters of the film, Jade Osiberu, and Kemi Akindoju, for portraying the Eyo Masquerade as a gun-wielding villain while adorning the full traditional regalia.” “We are of the opinion that the production of the film ‘The Gang of Lagos’ is very unprofessional and misleading while its content is derogatory of our culture, with the intention to desecrate the revered heritage of the people of Lagos. It is an unjust profiling of a people and culture as being barbaric and nefarious. It depicts a gang of murderers rampaging across the State”.

Popular Nollywood actress, Toyin Abraham continues to face backlashes over her support for Tinubu with respect to her role in the latest movie, Gangs of Lagos.

It would be recalled that during the 2023 presidential elections, the actress unapologetically supported the president-elect, Bola Ahmed Tinubu and has since been ridiculed for it. A Twitter user identified as Adetutu Balogun pointed out that Toyin Abraham played the role of a politician that fought tirelessly for the freedom of the oppressed. However, in reality, she stands against the character portrayed in the Gang of Lagos by supporting the APC party.

‘John Wick’ movie star Lance Reddick is dead

Actor Lance Reddick, famous for his roles in The Wire and the John Wick franchise, has passed away at 60 due to natural causes at his home in Los Angeles, according to his representative.

The death of Lance Reddick struck many by surprise and has since left the internet space with memories and tribute to the actor. The Wire creator David Simon released a statement to the Hollywood Reporter to express his grief. “A consummate professional, a devoted collaborator, a lovely soul and a friend. This is just gutting and way, way, way too soon for any of us who knew and loved him to contemplate,” he wrote.

In a tweet, Wendell Pierce, Reddick’s co-star in the show paid tribute; “A man of great strength and grace. As talented a musician as he was an actor. The epitome of class. A sudden unexpected sharp painful grief for our artistic family. An unimaginable suffering for his personal family and loved ones. Godspeed my friend. You made your mark here. RIP,” he wrote. Reddick’s acting credits also include the sci-fi series Fringe and the action thriller White House Down. He was recently doing interviews for his role in the upcoming John Wick: Chapter 4 but chose not to attend the film’s New York premiere earlier this week. His most notable role was playing Baltimore police lieutenant Cedric Daniels in HBO’s crime drama The Wire, which had a predominantly black cast, making it a rare and extraordinary experience for Reddick.
