As the new era of leadership begins in different parts of the country, Enugu State Governor, Barr Peter Mbah, on Thursday, met with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, where he discussed his state’s matters and the need to release the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. Mbah while addressing reporters, described his meeting with Tinubu as heartwarming, and according to him, partnership and collaboration with Tinubu’s administration were critical to actualising his administration’s agenda for Enugu State. He said, “I came and frankly I brought to the President, the warm greetings and best wishes from the government and the people of Enugu state. “But, above all, you may also know already that we made massive campaign promises to the people of Enugu. And we also have expressed a humongous vision. “We’ve taken a bold view of what the new government could achieve in the next four years, in terms of growing our economy from the current levels to $30 billion. “And one of our core governance philosophies is to collaborate and to have partnership; and we have identified the federal government as our core partner. “A lot of people do not know, but we have huge mineral resources in Enugu State. And these resources are sitting under our ground, not being productive. So, we believe with the partnership we’re trying to build with the federal government, we’re able to transform these assets into productive assets. “Of course, you know that the growth level we have proposed is one that is going to be driven by the private sector and private sector wants the ease of doing business; and one of the core indicators of the ease of doing business is security and infrastructure. So, we also had that conversation with Mr. President. “And finally, we also talked about the release of Nnamdi Kanu. You know, that the South East has made a collective demand to have Nnamdi Kanu released. And we basically identified with that and request Mr. President, who in his inaugural address promised the people that he’s going to engender national healing and he’s going to serve with compassion. “So we’ve basically informed him that this would serve as a pointer to his administration’s extension of hands of fellowship to Ndigbo”, he said.

I have single-handedly raised my kids & so many others, plus myself without a single denial from the government. Yet you feel so entitled to reaping over 100% from where you did not sow. I have worked, and I’m still working tirelessly to survive in this country without the support of the government, but….” “You can gladly come n close down my business, arrest me, jail me, or kill me for all I care …. we all will die one day & I will never be afraid of what will eventually be everyone’s faith… what I do not have I can not give .” In an Instagram live video, Iyabo Ojo disclosed that a close source has disclosed to her that she is being attacked because she threw her weight behind the candidate for Labour Party, Peter Obi. I only see my country. I’m a Nigerian… I am not afraid of death, for that is inevitable. I will never be afraid to air my opinion, for that is my right…
I have no enemies. We may not all believe in the same course, we may not see things the same way but you’re not my enemy bcos at the end of the day, either, good or bad. We’re in together. We’re all citizens of Nigeria.
I have empathy for my country & not for stomach infrastructure. If after 8 years Nigeria has renewed hope, then my beliefs may change, but till then, I obediently stand on my beliefs.
If you didn’t make me, you can’t break me, you can take the body but never my soul”.
Court berates Peter Obi over unpreparedness in petition against Tinubu’s victory
The presidential election petition court criticizes the Labour Party (LP) and its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, for their lack of preparedness in the petition filed against President Bola Tinubu‘s victory. During the court session on Thursday, one of the senior lawyers representing the petitioners, Emeka Okpoko, attempted to submit electoral documents as exhibits. However, it was observed that these documents had not been properly filed and scheduled before the court, THE CABLE reported.

However, upon reconvening, the petitioners’ legal team still appeared disorganized. This dissatisfaction led Haruna Tsammani, the leader of the five-member panel presiding over the court, to advise the petitioners to request an adjournment to allow them to properly arrange their documents. “What we have done today is a waste of time. I think you underrated the kind of job you have to do,” one of the justices said. In response, Awa Kalu, another experienced lawyer representing the petitioners, stated that they would not be accepting the adjournment proposed by the court. “I took an adjournment yesterday and I would not like to do that today,” Kalu said. Subsequently, the issues were resolved, and the petitioners successfully presented electoral documents (form EC8As) from six states. These states include Rivers with 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs), Benue with 23 LGAs, Cross River with 18 LGAs, Niger with 21 LGAs, Osun with 20 LGAs, and Ekiti with 16 LGAs. In the petition filed by Peter Obi and the Labour Party, a total of 83 witnesses have been identified to testify, representing both the petitioners and the respondents. The petitioners have indicated their intention to call 50 witnesses, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has listed five witnesses, while President Bola Tinubu and Governor Kashim Shettima have listed 21 witnesses, and the All Progressives Congress (APC) has listed seven witnesses. The court has set specific dates for each party to present their case. Obi and the Labour Party are scheduled to prove their case from May 30 to June 23, INEC from June 24 to June 29, Tinubu and Shettima from June 30 to July 5, and the APC from July 6 to July 10. The adoption of final addresses is set for August 5. At this point, only one witness has been called by the petitioners during the proceedings.

In another tweet following the inauguration, Aisha referred to the B.A.T as an impostor in reply to a news headline about the US President Joe Biden congratulating the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdogan but not Tinubu. “Democracy is not about who was voted in. It is about whether someone was voted in. Erdogan might be a dictator to the rest of the world but he was chosen by his people.
Tinubu on the other hand is an impostor who stole people’s mandate through rigging and violence,” she added.

Photo credit: Peterobigregory/Instagram It is reported that Tinubu, who won the February 25, 2023 elections, will be sworn in as Commander-in-Chief and 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, on Monday, May 29. Responding to a question related to the inauguration in a Twitter Space on Sunday, Obi said he would not back down in the fight to secure “his mandate”. In his words: “I didn’t start this journey in a single day; I knew it’s not going to be easy. The inauguration will strengthen me. I know how dampened you are that your effort did not come the way you wished. We are in a battle with an entrenched establishment. We are in a long battle. Even me, I know that the journey ahead is tough; they will make allegations, blackmail and all sorts of things, but I am ready. “I thank you for your sacrifice and I ask that you do not feel dampened. Thanks for the sacrifice; thanks for being part of this greatness. Please as we go through this pain, let us stay together. Let us do the right thing. Nobody can claim to be a saint, I am not. I could have done something unknowingly in the past. I plead that you stay focused. This is about transformation which takes time.”
Apapa gives Peter Obi’s lawyers 48-hour ultimatum over tribunal updates
Factional leader of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, has given lawyers of the presidential candidate of the party, Peter Obi, a 48-hour ultimatum to brief him on the ongoing presidential election petitions tribunal. The ultimatum was given on Friday, May 12, after Apapa convened a parallel meeting of the National Executive Council of the party in Bauchi state.
The meeting was held after a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ruled in his favour as the acting national chairman of the party. Justice Hamza Muazu who also said that he will go ahead to hear the substantive matter, adjourned the case till Friday, May 19, for further deliberation. Issuing the ultimatum to Peter Obi’s lawyers, Apapa said; “There is no doubt that I am now in charge. It has now been confirmed by the court that I have the right to be in charge until another order takes place. “As of today, I am the acting national chairman of the party and any other person that parades himself as the chairman is doing so illegally. “I want to invite all the lawyers that are in charge, representing Labour Party at the election tribunal, to give me updates in the next 48 hours because I am the one in charge and the one in the driver’s seat.” Congratulations to Pa Lamidi Apapa on his big win at the court. “Sweet dreams” – Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad mocks Peter Obi for insisting he’ll be president
President Mohammadu Buhari’s aide, Bashir Ahmad has mocked the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi for insisting he will be the president of Nigeria. Reports earlier made the rounds of the politician expressing his optimism to secure the number one seat in the country.
In the interview, Mr Peter Obi had said that he knows for certain that he would be the president of Nigeria. “Anyone who thinks I am on a transit is wasting his time. Let me tell you, I must be the president of this country. I am sure of that. If it is not today, it must be tomorrow. Other people who want to be, should come and tell us what they want to do, and how to do it. This is my country, I don’t have dual citizenship. If anyone thinks I am going to run away from Nigeria, they are lying. “I have three engagements in Anambra and Lagos today. I will be speaking in Lagos tonight. We will not leave Nigeria. I am not in a hurry to become the president, but I know it must happen,” he said.
Mocking his insistence on being president, Bashir Ahmad described it as pipe dreams. “So, Daddy’s favorite son insisted that he MUST be the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. We wish him sweet dreams!,” Bashir Ahmad wrote.
Peter Obi’s visit for apology, not reconciliation – Wole Soyinka
Renowned professor, Wole Soyinka has said that the reports that the visit by the Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, was for reconciliation are simply inappropriate. In reports released online, the Prof said that Peter Obi had apologized for the bad conduct of his supporters, Obidients, who had dragged him online.
This was revealed in a statement by the Prof Wole Soyinka entitled “A visitation and the Allure of ‘Reconciliation’.” Soyinka said; “Before it gains traction and embarks on a life of its own, I wish to state clearly that the word “Reconciliation”, inserted into some reports of Peter Obi’s visit to me yesterday, Sunday, May 7. is a most inappropriate, and diversionary invocation. Let me clarify: I know the entity known as Peter Obi, presidential candidate of the Labour Party. I can relate to him. I know and can relate to the Labour Party on whose platform he contested elections. There are simply no issues to reconcile between those two entities and myself. However, I do not know, and I am unable to relate to something known as the “Obidient” or “Obidient Family”. Thus, albeit in a different vein, any notion of Reconciliation, or even relations – positive, negative or indifferent – with such a spectral emanation is simply grasping at empty air.
During that meeting, attended by two other individuals only, the word “Reconciliation” was never bruited, neither in itself nor in any other form. It simply did not arise. By contrast, there were expressions of “burden of leadership” “responsibility”, “apology”, “pleading”, “formal dissociation from the untenable”, all the way to the “tragic ascendancy of ethnic cleavage”, especially under such ironic, untenable circumstances. Discussions were frank, and creative. The notion of Reconciliation was clearly N/A – None Applicable. It was never raised. The following should be understood, but never underestimated. What remains ineradicable from that weekend of orgiastic rave in the social media was the opening up of the dark, putrid recesses in the national psyche that we like to pretend do not exist. It invited – into minds seeking a grasp on reality – gruesome variations on images from Dante’s Purgatorio. A fathomless pit was exposed, at the bottom of which one glimpsed a throng of the damned, writhing in competitive lust for the largest of the gangrenous ladles in a diabolical broth. To peek over the edge of that pit for a prolonged spell was to turn giddy, with a risk of falling into the tureen of inhuman pus. To attempt to navigate one’s way, however gingerly, along a mat spread across the infernal abyss, is an invitation to moral suiciiide. “For the serious minded, I call attention to essays I have offered on the theme of Reconciliation based on Truth, and the ethical imperative of Restitution. There will be further elaborations forthcoming in DEMOCRACY PRIMER III – Bookcraft’s INTERVENTION series, now brought forward for publication on June 12, the watershed extorted from the current regime as the nation’s Democracy Day, “If, from here on, I now comply with entreaties from several valued, genuinely concerned directions, and ignore new provocations, however vile, it is only because I also approve of Mohammed Ali’s strategy of Rope-a-Dope, where blind menace is left flailing hopelessly at the disdainful manifest of Truth.”
