“Those who can’t accept defeat do not deserve victory”

president bola ahmed tinubu

On Monday, June 12, President Bola Tinubu delivered a speech commemorating the 30th anniversary of the June 12, 1993, presidential election. Regarding the 2023 election, Tinubu expressed the view that individuals who are unable to tolerate and accept defeat in elections are unworthy of experiencing the joy of victory when their turn comes. June 12 Speech from President Tinubu “We have traversed the dark, thorny path of dictatorship before and those who experienced it can readily testify to the unbridgeable gap between the dignity of freedom and the humiliation and degradation of tyranny. “True, rancorous debates, interminable wrangling, ceaseless quarrels, bitter electoral contestations may be perceived by some as unattractive features of democracy. But they also testify to its merit and value. “This year, we held the seventh in the cycle of elections that have become sacred rituals of our democratic practice in this dispensation since 1999. “That the polls were intensely contested is in itself positive evidence that democracy is well and alive in our land. It is only natural that even as those who won and experienced victory in the various elections are elated and fulfilled, those who lost are disenchanted and disappointed. But the beauty of democracy is that those who win today can lose tomorrow and those who lose today will have an opportunity to compete and win in the next round of elections. “Those who cannot endure and accept the pain of defeat in elections do not deserve the joy of victory when it is their turn to triumph. Above all, those who disagree with the outcome of the elections are taking full advantage of the constitutional provisions to seek redress in court and that is one of the reasons why democracy is still the best form of government invented by man.”

Though Ayo still insists she knows who she slept with, I was even asking for Bayo and you to submit for DNA then.” “Verolmade wants you to accept the call for the DNA test. I will I organize it independently if you want. Children are a gift of God. See how beautiful your kids are. Congratulations on your new son I heard. God bless your hustle.”

Why I won’t accept election loss as God’s will — Peter Obi replies Pastor

GistReel

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, addresses why he would not agree with a Pastor’s appeal to accept his election defeat as God’s will. Why I won't accept election loss as God's will — Peter Obi replies Pastor During an interview on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Monday, Peter Obi expressed that doing the right thing was God’s desire. Obi stated that he holds great respect for notable Nigerians, including clerics and traditional rulers but to agree to the loss is impossible. “I disagree with them. What they’re actually preaching is the problem of Nigeria. The problem of Nigeria is accepting wrongdoing, accepting what is unacceptable…that is using God’s name in vain. That’s not what God says.” He continued, “What they’re saying is not God’s wish. It is not God’s plan for Nigeria. Why don’t we accept that the 133 million Nigerians who are poor is God’s wish? Why don’t we accept that 95 million Nigerians living in…poverty is God’s wish? It is God’s wish that we don’t have electricity. It is God’s wish that our children are kidnapped. It is God’s wish that we have collapsed primary healthcare leading us to be the country with the highest (rate of) infant mortality… That’s not what God says. God’s wish is when you do the right thing.” Obi commented that the election procedures had clear regulations that, if adhered to, would prevent reason to challenge the process. He continued, “it would have been concluded in a matter of hours without anybody arguing about it. But it is not God’s wish that you do the wrong thing.” “It is not God’s wish that you go and rob a train and make money and start sharing it… This is what is killing the country. People come here, take public money and then go and give it to people in the Church…and they say it’s God’s wish…that is what we’re fighting. That’s what we want to stop. “We want God’s wish to be truly God’s wish. And that is when we do the right things and God gives His blessings. “What do you tell the young ones growing up? That it’s God’s wish that you steal? That is God’s wish that you conduct a wrong election? So, tell me the difference between those of us who are doing this and the armed robbers,” Obi said. Obi noted that he wants “God to allow us to do the right things so we can start building a better country for our children.”

“Accept defeat, don’t waste your time” — Senator Bent urges Peter Obi, Atiku

senator bent

The Senator who previously represented Adamawa South at the National Assembly issued the statement on Saturday, 4th March in Yola. She extended congratulations to the declared winners, Senator Bola Tinubu and his running mate Sen. Kashim Shettima, for their victory. Bent stated that it would be a waste of resources and time for Peter Obi and Atiku to pursue a legal case.

Bent’s Statement to Atiku and Peter Obi “Engaging in a legal tussle on the widely adjudged most credible election will amount to only unnecessary distraction to hold down the process of leadership to thrive. “The presidential election results were a true reflection of Nigerians honest votes , you don’t need to waste your time and resources. “Going to court will lead them in exercise in futility with no positive impact in the judiciary and democratic systems. “I believe in the duo style of leadership, the ticket will unite us more than the thinking of many who are selfish to look at it from the religious point of view,” she said. “I wish them good tenure in office, I know in their ticket Nigerians will smile again,” Bent added.
