GistReel

A devout christian counselor has warned women against going into marriages without being financially stable. Utilizing some heartbreaking stories she’s heard, the counselor Princess Ukoko opined that it is difficult to know a person completely.

Princess Ukoko further advised women not to see marriage as an escape route out of poverty. She wrote: “Dear women, don’t go into marriage if you are not financially stable, some stories are too heartbreaking, never trust a man with your life. You can never know a human being completely, and everyone is perfect in a good season, but what happens when the storms hit? That’s why it’s good to have money before marriage. Marriage should not be anyone’s escape route out of poverty, especially women”

“Lagos isn’t a no man’s land; it is a Yoruba land” – Yul Edochie cautions against tribalism

GistReel

Controversial actor, Yul Edochie has asserted that the metropolitan city, Lagos belongs to the Yorubas and the notion that it belongs to no one is invalid.

Yul Edochie Lagos Yoruba

In a post on his Instagram page, he revealed that he had moved to Lagos in 2011, built a home there and has never been treated badly or been prejudiced against by the Yorubas. The movie star dismissed the belief which seems to be causing a lot of contention on social media that Lagos belongs to no tribe as incorrect. He likened making such claim about Anambra state; he said that the state belongs to Igbo and it’s equivalent, Lagos, likewise belongs to the Yorubas. The proud polygamist warned people to avoid tribalism before it causes great harm to the society. His post reads: “I’ve lived in Lagos since 2011. Built my house in Lagos. Not once have I experienced any form of hate or rejection from the Yorubas. Anytime Yoruba boys see me on the street, they gather to greet me, and it’s all love always. And this talk flying around that Lagos is a no man’s land is wrong. Lagos is a Yoruba state in Yoruba land. Imagine someone saying that Anambra is a no man’s land. That’s crap. Anambra is an Igbo Land. You can’t come into someone’s land and tell the person it’s now ano man’s land. Na you dey find trouble. Nobody can deny the fact that the Igbos have contributed immensely to the development of Lagos. Other tribes have contributed in their own ways too. And the Yorubas have been largely accomodating as well. It shouldn’t take away the fact that Lagos is a Yoruba land. We no dey drag ownership. Let’s kill tribalism before it kills us. YUL EDOCHIE.”

Paul Okoye Ivy Ifeoma jealous Nigerians

Veteran musician Paul Okoye’s girlfriend, Ivy Ifeoma has taken time out to share a word of advice with Nigerians on jealousy.

In a post on her Instagram page, the 22-year-old warned people against feeling jealousy for others when they’re doing well. According to her, nobody’s trying to ‘pepper’ anyone and most people may not realize the hard work that preceded what they envy about a person. In her words; “When you see someone doing well, rather than let your emotions become jealousy, rage and eventually leading to depressiion, see it as a form of inspiration, or a reason to keep going or do better. Nobody is trying to pepper you. You are the one seeing it that way. And you don’t know exactly what the person had to go through to get there. It is normal to feel bad about yourself when you feel stuck and it seems someone else is doing so much better. But after sulking and hating yourself, what exactly would that solve? That person is not your enemy.”
