Bayern Munich has signed South Korean defender Kim Min-jae from Italian champion Napoli for a reported fee of 50 million euros ($55 million). Bayern had been looking to bolster its back line following Lucas Hernández’s departure for Paris Saint-Germain and with Benjamin Pavard’s future uncertain. Pavard’s contract with the Bavarian powerhouse expires next year and he reportedly wants to leave the club.

Source: DDP Images Bayern Munich announced the signing of the Korean footballer late on Tuesday, July 18, adding that Kim Min-jae signed a five-year deal through June 2028 and will wear the No. 3. The exact terms of the deal were not revealed, but multiple sources claim Kim will receive an annual salary of 12 million euros. Bayern CEO Jan-Christian Dreesen said; “He impresses with his physical presence, as well as his mentality and speed. We’re pleased he can immediately take part fully in pre-season and firmly believe that he will also excite our fans with his style of play.”

I’m really looking forward to what’s to come in Munich. It’s a new beginning for me. I’ll continue to develop here. “In discussions with the club, it was made clear to me from the start how interested they are in me. My first goal is to play a lot of games. In addition, I want to win as many trophies as possible.” Kim who joined Napoli from Turkish side Fenerbahce in July last year, was a vital part of the team that won the Scudetto for the first time in more than three decades last season. He was honored as Serie A’s best defender last season. The Korean footballer also played all but three of Napoli’s 38 league games, chipping in two goals.

Tuchel’s side were 18-0 ahead by half-time, with Musiala and team-mate Mathys Tel both bagging five before the break, while Gnabry scored a hat-trick. Sane, Alphonso Davies, Konrad Laimer, Noussair Mazraoui and Dayot Upamecano all netted before pausing for a breath. Things got slightly better for Rottach-Egern after half-time, with Tuchel’s side taking their foot off the throat by only scoring nine times. Marcel Sabitzer was not messing around as he banged in five goals in a 22-minute period in the second half. It was brutal for Rottach and it could have been much worse, had their goalkeeper not pulled off some heroic saves.

I’ve been waiting to join PSG for a long time, and it’s finally happened. It’s a very special day for me and I’m very happy to be here.” Hernandez was born in France but raised in Spain, playing his youth career at Rayo Majadahonda and Atletico Madrid before progressing into the latter’s senior team. In 2019, he joined Bayern Munich, and has enjoyed four years of success with the German giants, winning the Bundesliga title every season, as well as the Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup in 2020. However, injury limited his involvement for Bayern Munich last season. The defender was restricted to 11 appearances because of a knee ligament injury suffered while on duty for France at the World Cup.

Tottenham will be flying to Australia for the start of their pre-season tour on Friday, July 14. Bayern are in the market for a new centre-forward and boss Thomas Tuchel has made Kane his number one target. Some German tabloids had reported that the Bundesliga giants had a bid of around £60 million turned down last month for the Tottenham star. Tottenham are thought to be holding out for around £100m to sell Kane this summer but he might have something to say on that. Sky’s report claims Kane is keen to seal a move to the Allianz Arena.

The English international evolved into one of Pep Guardiola’s most versatile defenders during their time together at Eastlands, using his pace on the right of a three-man defense to keep opponents from exploiting City’s high line. He’s won five Premier League titles, four League Cups, two FA Cups, and one Champions League title in six years spent in Manchester. It could be a busy summer for Man City with Josko Gvardiol, Declan Rice, and Mateo Kovacic all linked with moves to the Etihad. City could also lose some high profile players. There are doubts over the future of the club’s captain Ilkay Gündoğan, whose contract expires at the end of this month. Portuguese footballer, Bernardo Silva could also leave the English club.

The Gunners made the midfielder their priority summer signing and were facing competition from the German giants, with Bayern manager Thomas Tuchel reportedly speaking to the midfielder in recent weeks. However, Bayern Munich withdrew their interest following a meeting of board members on Tuesday, June 13.

Manchester United and Chelsea have previously shown an interest but Rice looks set to move to the Emirates Stadium with Arsenal closing in on a deal. West Ham have previously set an asking price of £120m for Rice, though the Gunners are hopeful a deal worth around £100m will be agreed. Any deal will smash Arsenal’s previous club-record outlay of £72million on flop winger Nicolas Pepe. Rice has been expected to leave this summer and last week West Ham chairman David Sullivan confirmed the midfielder was promised a big move.

Source: Twitter Dortmund were leading by two points before their last match for the season but were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Mainz on Saturday, allowing Bayern to finish in first place with goal difference. RB Leipzig and sensational Union Berlin are third and fourth respectively and will also compete in the Champions League next season.

The 30-year-old Swiss footballer has only one year remaining on his current Arsenal contract and there is no expectation that the club will look to extend that deal. There is, however, an option of an extra year, which will help to protect the midfielder’s transfer value this summer. Xhaka who has been at Arsenal since 2016, has scored seven goals and grabbed seven assists from 45 appearances in all competitions this season. Remaining at Emirates Stadium beyond the summer would have seen him enter the final 12 months of his contract, with the club also holding an option to extend that by another 12 months. The Swiss football star has endured some turbulent times during his career at Arsenal, most notably in 2019 when he was stripped of the captaincy following an outburst at fans when substituted during a game against Crystal Palace at Emirates Stadium. 
The midfielder was ready to leave during that January transfer window and had agreed terms with Hertha Berlin. Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta, who enjoys a good relationship with Xhaka, persuaded him to stay after showdown talks. Roma were also interested in Xhaka last summer. The Gunners are planning to revamp their midfield in the coming months due to lack of depth, and they are targeting two new signings. West Ham captain Declan Rice is their No1 target, but Arsenal are also fans of Brighton’s Moises Caicedo and Chelsea’s Mason Mount. 
Nagelsmann was axed after Bayern lost 2-1 at Bayer 04 Leverkusen on Sunday, March 19, allowing Dortmund to move to the top of the Bundesliga table. The 35-year-old took charge in 2021 and led Bayern to their 10th German title in a row last season, but they have been unable to replicate that form, and the hierarchy have acted ahead of the Champions League quarter-finals next month. Popular journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that Bayern already has a full agreement in place with Tuchel, with final documents being prepared on Thursday night. 
The former Chelsea boss will be seeking to repeat the feat he achieved upon taking over mid-season at Stamford Bridge. Tuchel won the Champions League with Chelsea, just months into his tenure. He will inherit a talented squad that has underperformed domestically since losing Robert Lewandowski last summer. Tuchel was sacked by the Blues at the beginning of the Premier League campaign and replaced by Graham Potter. Since then, he has been linked to several jobs, including Real Madrid, where Carlo Ancelotti is reportedly on the brink of an exit. Should Bayern beat Manchester City, they could face Chelsea in the semi-finals if the Blues get past Real Madrid; meaning Tuchel would come up against his replacement Graham Potter on the touchline just months after his dismissal. 
Cancelo’s loan move to Bayern Munich led to speculation of him reportedly falling out with Guardiola. However, addressing the claim at a press conference, Guardiola insisted that all is well between him and the Portuguese footballer in spite of the loan deal which includes a €70 million (£62m/$76m) purchase option. He said; 
“I wish him the very best. He has been an incredible figure in winning two Premier League titles. After the World Cup we have been playing in different patterns and I’ve given more time to other players. “Everyone has their own personality. He loves to play, he trains the best but he needs to play to be happy, so we decided together to let him go to Munich. He wants to play every game so hopefully that can happen in Munich.” When asked about possible replacements, Guardiola said he would wait and see if the club needs to target another full-back at the end of the season.
