Ex-gang leader pleads not guilty to Tupac’s murder

Duane “Keefe D” Davis, a 60-year-old former gang leader who was involved in the murder of Tupac pleaded not guilty in a US court on Thursday. Davis was charged in September 2023, following a disagreement with 2Pac in a casino, with the police alleging he planned the shooting with his late nephew, Orlando Anderson. The police showed hotel security tape from September 7, 1996, in which several men are seen assaulting and punching the suspect’s late nephew, which led to the singer being shot in retaliation while waiting in his car at a red light. Shakur died in the hospital six days later, at the age of 25. Ex-gang leader pleads not guilty to Tupac’s murderEx-gang leader pleads not guilty to Tupac’s murderTupac Shakur, rapper. When District Judge Tierra Jones asked Davis to enter a plea, he replied, “Not guilty.” Speaking after the hearing, Clark County District Attorney, Steve Wolfson said “We talked about it, and I determined that it’s not a case in which we should seek the death penalty. “The fact that the world is watching really doesn’t matter. What we care about is presenting the evidence to a jury, so that the jury can make the ultimate decision”, he said, according to the Review-Journal.

Taliban supreme leader claims lives of Afghan women now better after banning girls from school

The supreme leader of the Taliban has claimed his government has taken the necessary steps for ‘the betterment of women’s lives’ in Afghanistan. Under the regime, which swept back to power in August 2021, women are banned from public life and work and girls’ education is severely curtailed.

Taliban women gather to pray (Source: Crisis goup) The statement from Hibatullah Akhundzada was made public on Sunday ahead of the Eid al-Adha holiday, which will be celebrated later this week in Afghanistan and other Islamic countries. Mr Akhundzada, an Islamic scholar, rarely appears in public or leaves the Taliban heartland in Afghanistan’s southern Kandahar province. He surrounds himself with other religious scholars and allies who oppose education and work for women. In his Eid message, he said that under the rule of the Islamic Emirate, concrete measures have been taken to save women from many traditional oppressions, including forced marriages, ‘and their Shariah rights have been protected’. Moreover, ‘necessary steps have been taken for the betterment of women as half of society in order to provide them with a comfortable and prosperous life according to the Islamic Shariah’, his message added. Lately, Mr Akhundzada appears to have taken a stronger hand in directing domestic policy, banning girls’ education after the sixth grade and barring Afghan women from public life and work, especially for nongovernmental organisations and the United Nations The message was distributed in five languages: Arabic, Dari, English, Pashto and Urdu. Mr Akhundzada said the negative aspects of the previous 20-year occupation related to women’s wearing of the hijab and ‘misguidance’ will end soon. ‘The status of women as a free and dignified human being has been restored and all institutions have been obliged to help women in securing marriage, inheritance and other rights,’ he added. Despite initial promises of a more moderate rule than during their previous stint in power in the 1990s, the Taliban have imposed harsh measures since seizing Afghanistan in August 2021 as Nato forces were pulling out. They have barred women from public spaces, like parks and gyms, and cracked down on media freedoms. The measures have triggered a fierce international uproar, increasing the country’s isolation at a time when its economy has collapsed – and worsening a humanitarian crisis. Mr Akhundzada reiterated his call for other countries to stop interfering in Afghanistan’s internal affairs. He said the Taliban government wants good political and economic relations with the world, especially with Islamic countries, and has fulfilled its responsibility in this regard. His message also condemned Israel’s behaviour towards Palestinians and called on the people and government of Sudan to set aside their differences and work together for unity and brotherhood.

"Asari Dokubo on a mission to grab Tompolo's pipeline contract" ― IPOB Leader

The leader of Biafra Nations League, BnL, Princewill Chimezie Richards has accused Niger Delta leader, Asari Dokubo of plans to snatch a pipeline contract awarded to Government Ekpemupolo, also known as Tompolo. Chimezie who claimed that Asari’s main mission to Aso Villa was to beg for a contract, also accused Asari of playing double standards, adding that “he speaks from both sides of his mouth.”

Source: Twitter Recall that the ex-Niger Delta militant leader visited President Bola Tinubu on Friday where he accused some cabals in the military of being responsible for oil theft in the region. He also warned President Tinubu against releasing the leader of the outlawed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu, stating that releasing him is rewarding criminality and gruesome murder of innocent people. While addressing Newsmen after his meeting with Tinubu, Asari said, “Releasing Nnamdi Kanu is rewarding criminality and rewarding gruesome murder of innocent people, he should face the law for the actions and instigations he has carried out. “On security, I want to clearly say that there are full-scale wars going on in different parts of this country. In the South East, the IPOB/ESN is waging a full-scale war against the government of this country and many local governments, many communities are deserted, schools are closed, and hospitals are closed.” However, Princewill, whose group operates mainly around the Gulf of Guinea, in a statement, on Saturday said Asari never stands for anything. He said, “I know him, he never stands on anything, was it not a few days ago he was shouting that Senate President should go to the South East as if it’s of any importance to the people of the region? Now he has changed mouth that the South East got what they deserved. “His main mission to Aso Villa is to beg for a contract, and very soon Tompolo’s contract will be terminated. Let’s see if he is Tinubu’s godfather.”
