Ohanaeze Criticises APC for Allocating Deputy Speaker slot to South-East

Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the premier Igbo socio-cultural organization, has denounced the All Progressives Congress (APC) move to zone the office of Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives to the South-East. As the APC and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration debate who would become what in the National Assembly, Ohanaeze called the ruling party’s leadership decision to zone the deputy speakership to Igbo “extremely offensive, repulsive, and provocative to Igbo culture.” Ohanaeze Criticises APC for Allocating a Deputy Speaker to South-EastOhanaeze Criticises APC for Allocating a Deputy Speaker to South-East. Photo Credit: @Ohanaezendigboo: Twitter According to rumours, the APC is in favour of Barau Jibril serving as Senate President Godswill Akpabio’s deputy. The positions of Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives have been assigned to Tajudeen Abbas and Benjamin Kalu, respectively. According to a statement issued by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Dr Alex Ogbonnia, the group opposed the decision to limit the South-East to hold the House’s second-highest seat. “The Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide has watched with grave concern the zoning of principal officers of the Senate and House of Representatives of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” Ohanaeze stated. We have also noted that the South East of Nigeria has been allocated by the All Peoples Congress (APC) for the position of deputy speaker. “The Ohanaeze Ndigbo states that allocating the position of deputy speaker to the South East is highly unreflective, disgusting, and provocative to the Igbo.” Then it instructed all Igbo-born federal lawmakers in Nigeria to cast their votes for the National Assembly’s top officials in the manner they deemed appropriate. To achieve this, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide, under the leadership of Chief Engr. Dr Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, CFR (Ahaejiagamba), issues a directive to all Igbo legislators in the 10th National Assembly to cast their votes independently of their state, religion, or ethnicity.

"Resting in Europe ahead of inauguration" — APC declares Tinubu's whereabouts

The All Progressives Congress (APC) reveals that the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu is in good health and taking a break in Europe before his inauguration on May 29. This was made known on Thursday 14th April by Mr Felix Morka, the APC’s National Publicity Secretary, during an appearance on the Politics Today program on Channels Television. Morka added that Tinubu is expected to resume his duties promptly upon his return from Europe. Tinubu’s Whereabouts Ahead of Inauguration “He [Tinubu] is probably in Europe. He’s fine. After the elections and all of the energy expended, he just decided to take a moment of rest. “Once he returns and he’s inaugurated on May 29, there will be no dulling. He’ll be saddled with the responsibility of running a country as massive and complex as Nigeria. “I know he’ll be back in the country very shortly.” He added, “It is working rest because even in his rest, he is also taking the time to reach out to heads of government and other levels of leadership of other countries that are vital to the agenda that he’s bringing in his new government. “So, he’s not sleeping in his bed; he’s also in meetings regularly with all kinds of people who are travelling from other countries to see him preparatory to his inauguration. So, it’s a working visit.”

Chairman calls out Gov. Adeleke over rising kidnaps, death of APC members in Osun

The party expressed concern about the recent spike in violent attacks, particularly in the lead-up to, during, and after the general elections across the country. Osun State is said to be renowned for being one of the most peaceful states in the country until the 2023 general elections, particularly in the Osun East Senatorial District encompassing the Ife and Ijesa regions. Tajudeen Lawal announced in a statement on Monday, April 3, 2023, that more than 30 members of the opposition APC were reportedly murdered by thugs believed to be backed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Governor of Osun state Ademola Adeleke

Furthermore, the party condemned the kidnaps that transpired on Wednesday, March 29, 2023, and Friday, March 31, on the Osogbo-Ikirun road. Statement on attacks in Osun State reads in part “As of the time of making this statement with the exception of a woman whose release was secured by the police on Sunday, the victims were said to still be in captivity. “A caring governor would have either condemned the two kidnapping incidents in his territory within three days or rushed back from Abuja as the number one security officer of the state. “It is saddening that as I speak, Governor Adeleke has no comment of condemnation to his credit on all the murder incidents that happened so far in his four-month-old administration. “His handling of Osun affairs has shown that governance of a state is not a tea party which is the reason why it is not the best arrangement to make the state a laboratory for greenhorns in the management of the affairs of human beings and resources.”

“Endless forgeries from APC” — Obi’s campaign team denies leaked audio with Oyedepo

"Endless forgeries from APC" — Obi's campaign team denies leaked audio with Oyedepo

The Presidential Campaign Council of Obi-Datti has denied the authenticity of a leaked audio recording between their Presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners’ Chapel).

The leaked audio, which surfaced on the night of April 1, 2023, purportedly features Obi and Oyedepo discussing ways to mobilize Christian voters in the South-West and areas of the North-Central states such as Kwara, Kogi, and Niger. Diran Onifade, who serves as the Head of Media and Communications for the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council, characterized the leaked audio conversation as a typical example of the numerous falsifications that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is infamous for. Obi’s Campaign Team on Leaked Audio with Oyedepo “It appears the All Progressives Congress’ desperation to grab and retain power by foul means has refused to go away more than a month after they have grabbed the election as they planned. “While we are toeing the constitutional path to retrieve our mandate, those who have truncated the wishes of the majority of Nigerians have recoursed to mischief and endless subterfuge to continue to hold on to what they know does not belong to them. “From the show of shame in Port Harcourt to the drama in the Ibom Air aircraft, both of which they contrived, they have now moved to the circulation of a deep fake audio file aimed at promoting religious tension in the country. “All these are meant to serve no other purpose than egregious mischief aimed at demarketing Peter Obi. If the goal is to create a credibility problem, the ploy has failed woefully. “Peter Obi has long been on record as the only presidential candidate who has urged the Nigerians electorate not to vote for him on the basis of religion or tribe. “We will therefore like to advice our beloved Nigerian people to remain focused on the task to take back the mandate we know was freely given to Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed through legitimate means. “That is more important than to expect those who ran election on forged credentials and even fake Bishops to stop faking. They cannot stop being fraudulent because that is who they are.”

"APC is a slap on the face of democracy" — GRV fumes, rejects INEC's result

The Labour Party gubernatorial candidate in Lagos, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV) rejects the election results collated by INEC. Following the announcement of the incumbent governor, Sanwo-Olu leading in the state after clearing 17 Local Government Areas out of 20, GRV released a statement. In a series of tweets, the Labour Party candidate insisted that APC used thugs to intimidate his supporters and that results from his situation room confirmed that he won. Statement from GRV Rejecting Lagos State’s Election Results “Firstly, I would like to thank all Lagosians, especially our supporters for coming out to vote yesterday for us. I’m convinced that with you in our corner, a NEW Nigeria is imminent. However, I am saddened by the confirmed reports of violence and gross disenfranchisement of voters who only wished to perform their civic duty. Attacks on polling units, voters, and our party agents are totally antithetical to what we stand for & what Lagos truly represents. Collusion between the ruling party and electoral officials to return the candidate of the APC is a slap on the face of democracy and everyone who came out to vote for us on Saturday. In the light of this, I am convinced beyond any doubt that the results being released by INEC do not represent the wishes of majority of peaceful Lagosians. More so the results from our field agents and situation room indicated that we won this election. I am a champion of the people, we are far from done. Do not lose hope, do not waver. This is not over, we have not come this far to accept outright lies, criminality & falsehoods. A fight for FREEDOM is never easily won. Every vote cast for me was done in the face of intimidation and risk of personal harm. Every such vote must count. Defending every one of those votes is a sacred duty. I will defend your votes – this is my vow to every LP voter.”

“Let 2023 be the last time of lgbo interference in Lagos politics” – APC chieftain, Bayo Onanuga

APC chieftain, Bayo Onanuga has given a remark that the Igbo should not “interference in Lagos politics“ any longer.

Bayo Onanuga

Bayo Onanuga took to his official Twitter account, where he made his remark known. According to him, the Igbo should learn to mind their business and that 2023 should be the last time that they interfere in Lagos politics. This comment trailed the notion, “Lagos is no man’s land”, a statement that appears to have triggered many. He further states that Lagos is a state in Yoruba land and as such, should not be tagged “no man’s land”, as it is a state just like every other in Nigeria. Bayo wrote in a tweet: “Let 2023 be the last time of lgbo interference in Lagos politics. Let there be no repeat in 2027. Lagos is like Anambra, Imo, any Nigerian state. It is not No Man’s Land, not Federal Capital Territory. It is Yoruba land. Mind your business.” See the post below;

“Typical of bad losers” — APC ridicules GRV for saying ‘Lagos will catch fire’

Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour GRV

In response to alleged threats made by the Labour Party’s governorship flag-bearer, Mr. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour (GRV), during Saturday’s election, the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State has criticized his lack of sportsmanship. Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour GRV During the gubernatorial elections, GRV had alleged that a party member of his was shot and killed. He called out APC and INEC to impose an order to avoid a reaction that may cause ‘Lagos to catch fire.’ According to a statement released on Saturday, the ruling party’s Publicity Secretary in the state, Mr. Seye Oladejo, expressed that the APC had no justification for violence. “The attention of the APC has been drawn to a statement made by LP’s governorship candidate Mr Gbadebo Chinedu Rhodes-Vivour on Saturday’s elections. “He accused INEC and the police of `provoking Lagosians’ and warning that `if tonight Lagos State catches fire, it is not our fault’. He says `a lot of places are still under attack by thugs and hooligans of the APC. “This scaremongering is typical of bad losers who lack the spirit of sportsmanship,’’ Oladejo stated. “Should there be any breakdown of law and order in any part of our state, law enforcement agencies should know who to grab – Mr Rhodes-Vivour,’’ he added. “Now the LP candidate is playing the victim. This old trick won’t work; discerning Lagosians know they are all lies deployed to attract sympathy. “Our party has no need to be violent because we are sure of the glittering credentials of our governorship candidate, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu who will never be associated with violence. “We advise LP and its candidate to embrace peace instead of threatening to bring down the roof on everybody. It won’t work,’’ Oladejo stressed.
