Canada Soccer threatens to sue female players if they go on strike

A day after players in Canada’s women’s national soccer team said they were going on strike over pay equity issues and budget cuts, Canada Soccer has threatened to sue the Canadian Soccer Players’ Association (CPSA) and the players who are attending a team camp in Florida.

The players preparing for the upcoming SheBelieves Cup in Orlando, Florida, had said on Friday, February 10, that they were taking job action due to budget cuts, equal pay issues, and an overall lack of support from Canada Soccer. TSN however reported that Canada Soccer threatened to file a lawsuit on Saturday, February 11, hours before the group’s president Nick Bontis and general secretary Earl Cochrane were scheduled to meet with team player representatives. The legal threat ratchets up the tension between the governing body for soccer in Canada and members of the national team, who are scheduled to play in the SheBelieves Cup next week and in the Women’s World Cup in five months. The players association requested a “no board report” from a government-appointed conciliator on Tuesday. The document, which was filed with the Ontario Minister of Labour, indicates a deal can’t be reached with Canada Soccer in its negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement for 2023. Canada will be playing the United States in the SheBelieves Cup on February 16, but it is unclear if the match will go on as planned.

Rivers State Police Command has arrested a suspected female ritualist in the Port Harcourt area of the state who was found with a dead baby.

The yet-to-be-identified female ritualist was arrested with a dead baby on Monday, 6th of February, 2023. According to an eyewitness, “She was passing our street in Elelewon and before we knew it, she started dragging the baby on the floor and was reciting some incantations. So we gathered and apprehended her. It’s believed that she stole the baby from a different location, killed it, and brought it to our area to perform the ritual. She was later handed over to the police.”

A Nigerian man with the handle @frezze44 on popular app, TikTok, has opened up about his love for a female banker working at Zenith bank. In a trending video, Frezze44 revealed how he has been trekking for hours to the bank just to see his crush.

The short video showed him walking to the bank and subsequently filming the pretty lady with dark skin who stays at the counter. Sharing the video on TikTok, he wrote:

A 30-year-old undergraduate, Anastasia Uzodimma who has been a cobbler for six years has described her decision as the best so far.

The young lady who has shown passion and consistency in her business went viral on social media after one of her TikTok video went viral. Social media users applauded her after the video of the female cobbler saw her working on some shoes. While speaking to a reporter from Legit.com, the young lady disclosed that she started her shoe-making business in 2016 and also disclosed why she loves the art of shoemaking. According to the female cobbler, her zeal and creativity gingered her to venture into shoe-making which made her set up Anny’s Footwear, a Port Harcourt-based shoe brand. Speaking about how social media has played an impact on her business, she said; “Social media has been more helpful because, without social media, I can’t afford to pay my bill with what I sell in my shop.” She further described her business as a profitable business. “In fact, I am not thinking of doing any other businesses apart from being a shoemaker.” “It makes me different from every other woman. She had been pleasantly surprised and touched by the ambience of the room and was all the more so when her partner went down on her knee holding a ring.
The lady happily accepted the proposal and they both locked lips thereafter.

Tears as female corps member dies in tragic accident on her way to Akwa Ibom (Photo)

A female corper who identified as Nwaeze Charity Ogonnaya has reportedly lost her life while on her way to her state of deployment.
Reports gathered that the corps member who is currently serving in Akwa Ibom state lost her life getting into an accident on her way to the state.

It was confirmed that the lady embarked on the journey from Ebonyi state but met her death in Abia state on Wednesday, the 4th of January 2023.
The corper’s remains was immediately taken to her hometown as friends and family mourned her unexpected demise.
A friend of the deceased who broke the news to other corps members in the state also revealed that an unidentified person also died on the spot.
The lady added that she left the deceased at the park in Ebonyi state and boarded a different bus.
She said:
“Someone died on the spot. I don’t know her name. It’s Charity I know because I left her at the park. I entered a different bus.”
