I've won an election before without the help of Peter Obi -Alex Otti says

Governor-elect for Abia State, Alex Otti has said that he has won an election in the past without the help of Peter Obi.

Alex Otti

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Labour Party’s Alex Otti the winner of the Abia governorship election a few days ago after the residents of Abia launched a street protest against the delaying of the declaration of results from INEC. Following his win, Otti mentioned in an interview on Channels TV that it was clear that in 2015 he won the governorship election in the state without Peter Obi’s support. He said, “In 2015 when I ran under APGA, there was no Peter Obi. And we have it on our record that I won that election. At the time we were joining Labour Party, Peter Obi had not joined. It took about a week before called me and said that he purchased the presidential nomination form and he was coming to Labour Party.

“We were prepared to fight the way we fought in 2015. The votes we garnered in Abia could have been had but maybe the margin could have been smaller. That is why it’s always good to acknowledge Peter Obi. He came to Abia about four times to campaign for us. “I think he had done well for us. That is why even in the first election out of the eight House of Representatives seats we took six and sent some people on permanent retirement. “Peter Obi is a great addition to our campaign, but I can tell you that we won an election before in Abia without him.”

Keyamo petitions DSS, calls for arrest of Peter Obi for alleged incitement

Festus Keyamo (SAN), the Minister of State for Labour and Employment, has petitioned the DSS, urging them to arrest and prosecute Peter Obi and his vice, Datti Baba-Ahmed for incitement.

Festus keyamo

He accused the Labour Party’s presidential candidate and vice of committing “incitement and treasonable felony” through their comments, which he describes as incendiary and capable of causing rebellion. As the chief spokesperson of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), Keyamo believes that in the post-election period, it is important to calm tensions, reduce the temperature, and initiate the healing process. The petition was addressed to the Director-General of the DSS and was dated March 23.

Keyamo petitions DSS, calls for arrest of Peter Obi for alleged incitement

“The President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, issued a statement to this effect a few days ago. However, it appears the presidential and vice-presidential candidates of the Labour Party, Mr Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed are not prepared to toe this conciliatory path for the sake of peace and national cohesion, whilst exercising their rights to pursue duly laid down constitutional means of addressing their grievances,” he stated. Keyamo pointed out that following the announcement of the presidential election results, Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed, have been appearing on various media outlets and making inciting remarks and allegations about the declaration of the President-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Keyamo ‘s Statement on the Arrest of Peter Obi and Datti “These comments and claims are made, not just within the boundaries of exercising their rights to freedom of speech and the freedom to air their grievances publicly, but they have since crossed the line to call for the outright truncation of democracy by insisting on the adoption of other processes outside the contemplation of our Constitution. “In some cases, their privies have even called for the establishment of an Interim Government. “The latest of such are the comments made by Datti Baba-Ahmed on behalf of himself and Mr. Peter Obi on Channels TV on Wednesday, March 22, wherein he threatened that if the President-elect was sworn in on May 29, it would ‘signal the end of democracy’. “Posing as an accuser, a judge and a jury all by himself, he unilaterally declared the duly elected President-elect as ‘unconstitutional’ and, in a subliminal manner, threatened mayhem if the President-elect was sworn in on May 29. “I also have it on good authority that Mr. Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed have camped some youths in a popular hotel in Abuja with the sole aim of instructing them to push out inciting messages everyday on social media in order to cause panic and fear within the federation and to incite people to riot and social unrest. “It is noteworthy that Peter Obi and Datti Baba-Ahmed have submitted elections petitions to the courts for adjudication, but their conducts and utterances amount to a subversion of the processes they have instituted in court and a subversion of our Constitution and the laid-down processes for addressing disputes and grievances. “These conduct and utterances are a build-up to something more sinister and it is important you rein them in now! “In the circumstance, I submit this petition in my personal capacity as a patriotic Nigerian to invite/arrest, interrogate and after investigation, if necessary, charge both individuals to court for their conduct which amounts to incitement and treasonable felony.”

In a series of tweets, he emphasized that the issue of his stolen mandate is presently before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET). Peter Obi on #EndINEC and #EndNigeria Protest “My attention has been drawn to social media postings suggesting that a nation-wide groundswell “#ENDINEC”, “#ENDNigeria” Protest is being planned by the Obidients. We are aware that those postings are being orchestrated by the Opposition. My position is clear: Without prejudice to constitutional dictates on freedom of speech and freedom of assembly, I have publicly stated that in the matter of reclaiming our stolen mandate, we shall do so robustly, via the Courts and Due Process. Regardless of the misgivings many may have about our Judiciary, we must strive to build strong and resilient institutions, of which the Judiciary is one. As a firm believer in the separation of powers between the three arms of government, I am conscious that every so often, the Judiciary is called upon to vindicate itself on epochal national public-interest issues. The matter presently before the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET) is one such litmus test case. Therefore, we are committed to pursuing Due Process in an unfettered manner. That is our primary and priority option. -PO” My attention has been drawn to social media postings suggesting that a nation-wide groundswell “#ENDINEC”, “#ENDNigeria” Protest is being planned by the Obidients. Peter Obi on Why He Won’t Join Tinubu’s ‘Govt of National Unity’ “The first thing I want to see is that the process is right. The process through which you achieve anything is far more fundamental than what you do thereafter. “Let us go back first, I am challenging the process and the declaration. Until we get it right, then we can talk about a government of national unity. “Otherwise, we would go and sit down and say that those who stopped a train and kidnapped people can call us to discuss peace when they have people in captivity. Until things are done rightly, we will be encouraging what we don’t need to encourage,” He said. Peter Obi rejects request to join Tinubu's 'Govt of National Unity' Accepting the Judgment of the Court, Obi says; “Issues about the election will be sorted out in court. I will be shocked if this country goes on with that situation. It will then stand that it is a corporate criminalized country. We can’t allow it. We need to start unbundling this criminality. “When people were talking about structure, it is this fraud and criminality that we witnessed that they were talking about, and we want to unbundle it for the sake of our children.” “Until we get it right, until justice is done, we can’t talk about government of national unity. We should get things done rightly, and I am sure that the judiciary will do the right thing.”

"I regard Tinubu as a father" — Peter Obi clarifies, gives reason for challenging election result

“I have no issues with Tinubu. He is somebody I have so much respect for as a brother and regard as a father. I am only challenging the process through which INEC declared him as the President-elect. I have no issues with his declaration as the President-elect. “We are committed to a new Nigeria. We must do everything that is right. We need to build strong democratic institutions that will teach people what their job requires and what government is all about. The process through which people come into office is for me…far more fundamental than what they do thereafter. There is a process of doing things. There is a process of arriving at any destination. Like I said in my press conference, if you’re going to answer ‘His Excellency’, the process of coming to that position must be excellent. If you’re going to be a Bishop, there’s a process of being a Bishop.”

Why I won’t accept election loss as God’s will — Peter Obi replies Pastor

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi, addresses why he would not agree with a Pastor’s appeal to accept his election defeat as God’s will. Why I won't accept election loss as God's will — Peter Obi replies Pastor During an interview on Arise TV’s ‘The Morning Show’ on Monday, Peter Obi expressed that doing the right thing was God’s desire. Obi stated that he holds great respect for notable Nigerians, including clerics and traditional rulers but to agree to the loss is impossible. “I disagree with them. What they’re actually preaching is the problem of Nigeria. The problem of Nigeria is accepting wrongdoing, accepting what is unacceptable…that is using God’s name in vain. That’s not what God says.” He continued, “What they’re saying is not God’s wish. It is not God’s plan for Nigeria. Why don’t we accept that the 133 million Nigerians who are poor is God’s wish? Why don’t we accept that 95 million Nigerians living in…poverty is God’s wish? It is God’s wish that we don’t have electricity. It is God’s wish that our children are kidnapped. It is God’s wish that we have collapsed primary healthcare leading us to be the country with the highest (rate of) infant mortality… That’s not what God says. God’s wish is when you do the right thing.” Obi commented that the election procedures had clear regulations that, if adhered to, would prevent reason to challenge the process. He continued, “it would have been concluded in a matter of hours without anybody arguing about it. But it is not God’s wish that you do the wrong thing.” “It is not God’s wish that you go and rob a train and make money and start sharing it… This is what is killing the country. People come here, take public money and then go and give it to people in the Church…and they say it’s God’s wish…that is what we’re fighting. That’s what we want to stop. “We want God’s wish to be truly God’s wish. And that is when we do the right things and God gives His blessings. “What do you tell the young ones growing up? That it’s God’s wish that you steal? That is God’s wish that you conduct a wrong election? So, tell me the difference between those of us who are doing this and the armed robbers,” Obi said. Obi noted that he wants “God to allow us to do the right things so we can start building a better country for our children.”
